Miss Marvel/Captain Marvel (I say just go with the latter since Mar Vell is boring and nobody cares about him) is one of my favorite super heroes. Unfortunately: she's also been one of the characters to have it the worst of late with Marvel's uh... let's be charitable and call it "well intentioned" attempts to pander to hot-button politics of the day... this is far from the first time they've done that sort of thing, and not the first time they've looked like morons for it... but damn it guys: why did you butcher Carol Danvers so badly and then give her old name and symbol to probably the single worst character you've ever made? But I digress.

In addition to terrible writing, trend-chasing and pandering, Captain Marvel got saddled with what is in my opinion one of the worst costume redesigns since 90s Daredevil:

Ugh where to even start...
- The "I hate my parents" hair do doesn't help for starters
- The hood/mask is fucking awful: the "hood but with hair sticking through" has NEVER looked good; it wasn't good back in the 80s and 90s when it was Gean Grey and Gambit using it and time has not sweetened it
- Why remove her lightning bolt symbol and replace it with a generic star? The lightning bolt at least had something to do with her powers
- Why take away the black/gold color scheme?
- And why replace it of all things with RED AND BLUE!? That has GOT to be the single most over-used color combo in the whole of comics: between the various spider-men, Daredevil, Captain America, Captain Britain, every member of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Magneto (yeah purple instead of blue but it's pretty close), everyone who uses the stars and stripes in their color scheme, and the entire superman family: I think we're good for red and blue

So: instead of just bitching about it to anyone who will stand still long enough: I decided to do something proactive: in the words of Edna: Fix the hobo suit. Some of the new design's elements do actually fit well, just need some tweaks.

My changes and rational behind them:
- Return the black: black and red is a rare combo for a hero, basically just Miss Marvel, Black Widow and Batman II
- Keep the gold: as it is one of the elements of the new design I actually like: as it makes the other colors stand out more distinctly
- Added the SWORD-style white gloves and boots: as that's the organization Captain Marvel is most often associated with, and it (with the gold) lends to a more "spacey" feel, which also fits... also yes the space cadet in me loves that look.
- Brought back the mask of sorts; albeit with a more functional Iron Man style HUD: just because you CAN fly doesn't mean you don't need navigational help afterall
- New emblem: basically combinding the lightning symbol with a bird, given that Captain Marvel's call-sign and occasional other hero alias is Warbird
- Keep the red shoulders: as it actually once again fits the spacey feel that I think works best... some trek nerd showing there I guess
- Nix the sash; as it doesn't fit and was always a substitute for her having no cape
- Hey: I even found a place for that star I didn't particularly care for as her main emblem, so there you go
