Here is a typical Dog-type Zmaj. They typically have a long curved neck like a dragon -- reminiscent of their forefathers and half-breeds. The notches on the ear indicate sexual status.
no notches means "virgin"
one notch means "inexperienced"
two notches means "experienced"
and so on...
although this method is very street and is not evident on higher class individuals. In higher class individuals they may have earrings or not use the system at all because they view it as "lower class".
if your ears are all torn up, chances are you'll be considered a whore. Many Zmaj that go into battle recieve such damages to their ears because they are so large and are an easy target, so they tend to crop their ears in the army for safety issues.
for all you - there are two types of typical Zmaj, the ones that look like dogs, and the ones that look like Dragon/griffins. The ones that look like dragons are not considered Zmaj, for there are dragon species on the planet, but Zmaj Dragons are extraordinarily rare. The Griffin type are fairly common and are viewed as lower class citizens because they do not resemble the "royalty" of the upper-class which used to be Dogs with dragon wings. but now only include "dogs" because the two races began polarizing.
anyway.. I like this pic.
