I agree! Struggle, and how characters react to/deal with/and overcome or move past it gives stories more depth and greater emotional impact as there are often things readers can relate to on some level. Personally, I prefer my misery to be less than the majority ingredient, though there is at least one comic that I've been a long-time reader of that has been unrelentingly dark for a while now. I'm sticking with it for multiple reasons, I trust that the author is going somewhere with it, there are a lot of loose threads I want to see resolved, and I want to see it through to the end, come what may. As far as this story goes, I'm enjoying the character interactions and expressions!
