Character Sheet for Kittina Katral
Nickname(s)
Kitty
Sex/Gender
female
Species
white bengal/sumatran tiger
Age
21
Character Description
A white Bengal/Sumatran tigress of average height and weight and athletic build. Her only distinguishing feature is The Mark, a birthmark in the form of a tiger's face that is split between her left upper arm and her left breast. This is what destines the bearer to be a member of Tiger's Stripe, although recent low Mark births have forced the organization to search for specially qualified individuals, who get the mark tattooed on.
Personality
While personable, Kitty is a loner. Since the death of her boyfriend and true love, Tony, she has become increasingly detached and bitter. She has few friends, but cherishes them. Her views on life are frequently cold and cynical.
She is left-handed and a moderate smoker.
Likes/Dislikes
Despite her attitude, she confesses to being a computer geek and even uses computer sales as a cover story for ventures which require access to business environments. But beyond that she is a constant thrill seeker and lives for extreme sports and spelunking. Her preferred music is anything loud and fast, particularly Acca/Dacca.
Background/History
One of Tiger’s Stripe’s fiend hunters and daughter of Mohan and Singh Katral. She is one of only a few white tigers in the Katral family tree, seen as both a sign of good fortune and important events. Currently she is assigned as scout/sniper and “risk management” for Fiend Hunter Task Force 3, a.k.a. “Mohan’s Scrappers”. A bit of a daredevil, she somehow always manages to add flare to her missions.
She graduated high school early and attended Bourne Bay Technical Institute, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in computer marketing.
During this time she suffered the tragic loss of her Boyfriend Tony while the two were exploring an abandoned mine, which they had visited often in their youth. Tony had actually proposed, but Kitty was distraught because she had recently been told of her destiny as an agent of Tiger's Stripe. As they were exiting the mine the passage collapsed and Kitty was knocked unconscious. She awoke in the middle of the daisy fields outside the mine entrance. Ever since then the sight, or even smell, of daisies can send her into a panic attack.
She blames his death on herself and her ancestry, reasoning that if she had not been born with the Mark and faced an obligation to Tiger’s Stripe she wouldn’t have hesitated and could have lived happily with Tony. This has also caused a rift in her relationship with her father, as he was the one who rescued her but was unable to save Tony. So far the tension has been kept in check when working on missions.
Very few have been able to get close to her and at first she can appear cold and distant, but those who have gotten to know her see she is only slightly more introverted than her father. During her training she became close friends with Alice MacIntire, who shared her interest in computers, although Alice’s knowledge (and geekiness) is far superior and borders on obsession.
On missions in the untamed wastes of the world Kitty and the rest of Mohan's team use the cover of big-game hunters or transporters to blend in. On a solo operation in a city she travels as an world-wide computer salesman for South Plains Business Machines specializing in corporate networking, an idea cooked up by her younger sister Mohini.
Relatives/Family
Her father is Mohan Katral, a general in Tiger's Stripe and the leader of Mohan's Scrappers.

Her mother is Singh Katral, a musical prodigy who gave up the life of a world-class soloist to be a full-time mom. Now that her children are old enough to care for themselves she teaches music at West Plains High School.

Kitty has one sibling, a younger sister named Mohini. And the two could not be more opposite. While Kitty is the cynic, Nini is ever the optimist, much like her father. Despite these differing personalities Kitty loves her sister dearly.
World/Setting
Amarthia is located in the Pinwheel Galaxy, but in a different dimension from our own, so don't bother looking for it at your neighborhood observatory. At first glance, life within any of the heavily fortified cities may resemble life on Earth circa 199x. But this is where the similarity ends. Each nation is almost a whole world unto itself, with cultures that may seem at the same time familiar yet alien. For instance, Kitty's home nation of United Plains may look and feel like Australia at first, they even have the accent. But the United Plains was not established as a penal colony of Locke and is ruled by a parliament and monarchy. Locke itself, while baring a striking resemblance to England, is not an island and all traces of it's former monarchy have been absent for years leaving only the parliament.

Outside the cities is where it is truly alien. Harsh weather; man-, er, anthro-eating plants; hostile wildlife; roving bandits; and the mysterious people known as "Scavengers" are just a small taste of the dangers that face the inhabitants. It's a wonder they advanced as far as they have technologically.

And behind all this, the natural dangers and inner-city politics, lies the clandestine world of Tiger's Stripe. An ancient army/brotherhood established during the turbulence of East Benai's (China/Japan/Korea/etc.) feudal era almost three thousand years ago. It has worked as a force for good through generations, laying it's foundations on the pillars of Justice, Honor, Wisdom, Loyalty and Strength.
But they are not the only ones who live in this shadow world. Through millennia forces for good, evil and neutrality have risen and fallen. Tiger's Stripe has watched them all. But the biggest force for evil was the Red Chameleon. In fact, it was the Red Chameleon that inspired the creation of Tiger's Stripe, but that is a tale in itself. This ancient enemy was stamped out nearly five hundred years ago in a war that cost both side greatly.
Since then Tiger's Stripe has continued it's mission of justice. But can it adapt to the quickly changing times in it's weakened state? Has it's once watchful eye grown weary and allowed an even greater threat to grow unnoticed?
Body
Athletic build. Dark brown, almost black, hair. White tiger stripes. Mark of Tiger's stripe on her left upper arm and breast. Blue eyes. Ear gauges for sunglasses.
Clothing
Each field agent is permitted to choose their own gear and attire when away from HQ, which most often boils down to what is practical for the assignment. For Mohan's Scrappers the job is to track down and kill dangerous creatures known as fiends, most often while in urban areas. The shirts are made of a tough hybrid fabric of cotton, aramid, and olefin fibre developed by Tiger's Stripe's very own Technology Department (more commonly referred to as "The Playground"). Leather patches are woven into the shoulders and arms for an extra layer of protection. This is what Kitty will be wearing pretty much constantly.

If she isn't in her field clothes she'll wear jeans and a t-shirt.
Accessories
Kitty completes the outfit with a nylon and leather harness with extra ammo pouches and a knife strapped to her left leg above the ankle. Her pistols, a customized variation of the .357 Desert Eagle called the Desert Hawk, are called Saifa and Fadang and are both worn on her left side. Being left-handed, she will only use Fadang as an off-hand weapon when the situation calls for it.

The pistols are named after two tigers from Thailand's famous Tiger Temple, Wat Pha Luang Ta Bua. These translations are from the internet, so forgive me if they're wrong.
Saifa (hip) - Lightning
Fadang (shoulder) - Red Horizon

Brownpaws
Kitty doesn't wear her field gear all the time. Here are some of the various outfits she will use throughout the story.

*Note: this is an older image. I originally meant her shirt color to be her theme color with the exception of the catsuit, but I got the values mixed up during production. They all match her "field gear" shirt now.
