I don't usually dive into manga, but the Dragon Ball nerd in me had to know these things...
It really would have been nice if they spent some time fleshing out the new characters and their relationships...especially considering how overly long that arc was anyway. You do get some more of that in the manga, but that just highlights how under-prioritized it was in the show.
