Well after Chaos (Sonic) was connected to the negative energy, his dad and uncle invented inhibitor rings like you see in Sonic’s hands. (Also some sort of Shadow comparison with all the access energy). After he put on the rings, Chaos (dark twin) appeared the next day. Thus having them both separated in the first place.
