The short version: The wife and daughter of US Vice President Mike Pence wrote and illustrated a book about their pet rabbit, Marlon Bundo, as he follows Mike Pence around for a day. To get back at him for his open homophobia and discrimination against LGBTQ people, the team of Last Week Tonight with John Oliver, published their own book one day earlier. In this book Marlon Bundo falls in love with another male bunny, Wesley and wants to marry him - but a very smelly stink bug who looks a lot like Mike Pence tries to deny them their happiness.
The book is also available as an ebook and audiobook with the voice of Jim Parsons as Marlon Bundo. All proceeds go to the Trevor Project, at organization to support LGBTQ youth and AIDS United.
I must say I was amazed by the creativity of this project. Not only the ingenious idea of writing a book about the bunny being gay - But also that the book itself is a very sweet and cute, kid friendly book about tolerance and acceptance. If it had just been a joke to get back at Mike Pence, I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much as I did now, since there is some actual quality behind it.
I can recommend it to everyone. :3
