This pic is based on a photo that was taken of me and a friend whom I had the joy of meeting when visiting the US in 2013. We spent a memorable evening at Huntington Beach, L.A., where he was so nice and showed me the local cuisine and the beauty of the beach promenade at night. The photo itself has been since in a frame on a shelf in my room to commemorate the occasion. The friendly mutt on the left is Dogbomb from FA, someone you maybe have heard of at some point if you have spent some time in the fandom.

I recently learned of a significant change that occurred in his life, about which you can read in his latest journal. Hearing these news concerning someone I hold dear was quite the gut punch for me, and I have since struggled to put how I feel about it into words, a comment, some kind of message, really anything. Remaining silent felt wrong too though, so I did what I have learned in the meantime: draw a picture.

Asides that, so many others have expressed here and on other platforms in a more eloquent way what should be said than I feel capable of. I also wanted to encapsulate the fond memories I had since my visit there in a way that doesn't contain sadness, but rather the happiness I've gained from being in the fandom ever since and meeting people like him.

I'm glad how I managed to capture his smile in this pic, and also my expression of awkwardness xD
