Vere the Lamb
My sketchbook used to be FULL of dragons and dolphins and unicorns ... I need to get back to that. Seriously.

This was done mostly with my future portfolio in mind.

The acidic saliva is flammable and ignites easily on contact with the hot desert air.

My favorite Western comic as a kid used to be Sojourn, you know, the issue with the dragon? Gami brought up that it had been penciled by Greg Land and a couple of Google searches later, I felt something inside me break when one of the comparison images revealed that he had ripped off the dragon and archer from another artist completely, line for line... pretty much unchanged.

If I went back to fix this, I would have more flame coming out in front of the tongue and thicken the neck more, especially on the left side of the page.

Nice looking dragon, I agree the neck could be thickend just a little. The flames, the way I look at it, work kind of like it's trying to be threatening instead of roasting something.

It's always hard when you find out one of your heroes wasn't as heroic as you thought. Still,at least something good came out of it since it inspired you to develop your own awesome talent. :D (hugs for Butter)

Holy crap!  I didn't realize you did more realistic work too...  I'm impressed!  The fire kinda looks like it's a just a breath that happens to be igniting, almost as an afterthought.  Which, to me, makes it feel more natural...

Ouch. I can just imagine the hand cramps those scales would cause if you kept them up long enough

Nice pick. My buddy is a big Salvatore fan. (I'd poke fun at him for playing AD&D if I wasn't sure he'd carve me like a roast beef...) & he showed me some art from Todd Lockwood. He does some great dragon art. Maybe you can get some inspiration there.

Been reading the Temeraire series, so I'm liking the dragon art.  :)

Maybe I will do some advanced illustrations... this kind of style can be done by tablet as well, but I like how organic drawing by hand feels, even if I never clean up my sketches... =__=

Very nice, used to be quite into dragons myself but could never get them to look right when I drew them so I gave up, lol.

I'll second the suggestion for Todd Lockwood.

The flames and scales are amazing. Your eye for detail already shows in sketches.
