I think it's all a sham,

people got bored of manipulating themselves,
instead are trying to troll intellects instead

I do find it quite funny and I think they know that Earth isn't flat

just the sake of casual fun c:

There are various hypotheses as to why FE'ers exist, many of them seem to work together.

AFAIK, virtually all FE'ers are extreme religious fundamentalists, usually christians. If you believe the bible over physical evidence, then the conclusion is fairly clear: the bible at various points demonstrably assumes a flat Earth.

Additionally, FE'ers are extremely hostile and insulting, which means it's likely they enjoy feeling special. They want desperately to have special knowledge that the rest of the world lacks. They pride themselves on being "awake" while the "sheeple" are "asleep".

FE'ers by definition either have to live in (relative) isolation, unaware that the rest of the world knows the Earth is a sphere, or believe that there's a massive conspiracy to hide the "fact" that the Earth is flat. That means any FE'er you meet on the internet, by definition, is a conspiracy theorist. So all the reasons why people believe in crazy, obviously wrong conspiracy theories also have to apply to Flat Earth.

If you've ever encountered FE'ers on, say, Youtube for example, you should know that they display incredibly degrees of willful scientific ignorance and utter reality denial when confronted with facts that disagree with their worldview. They have no math skills whatsoever, and are resistant to any suggestion to acquire them.

In summary: They jus' hella crazy, yo.
