Is it possible to reset the timer without knocking out the guardian for the 1000 years? Or does the indestructible destruction core bind the worsd eater's state to its?
Also, did Twilight just let them casually take the sword? That could be very bad if the core takes over....

The Core doesn't control his actions. it's just going to rest the world on it's own after a set amount of time. the only reason he fights back is because he's targeted as the culprit of the destruction.

I get that the core isn't directly controlling them at this point, and it's unlikely to do so unless some extreme condition happens (e.g., the timer being really close and the destroyer trying to reset it by stabbing himself in the core), but we know that the core seems capable of at least knocking the dragon unconscious for almost a thousand years, so it might be possible for it to do more direct control for short times.
