Finished my boi’s portrait and thus will be the new icon of my Warriors tumblr blog! And my icon for Blogclan.
Brindlefern is my Warriors-sona for while I’m in the fandom. He’s a Medicine cat and is very dedicated to doing his job as a healer in his clan Leafclan, alongside his mentor Mistfeather. He may have his full name yes, but he’s still working under Mistfeather’s paws until the tom dies or retires (The latter is planned from me). However he is as trained as a full Medicine cat of the clan.
What's in his mouth is Catmint, it means something as it is part of his backstory. He desperately wanted to help alongside Mistfeather to keep his last surviving littermate from dying of Greencough as a kit. He had already lost his sister from dying at birth, and he didn’t want to lose his brother too.
They managed to succeed, and Brindlekit asked his parents and leader if they could rename his brother 'Bravekit', for surviving such a deadly sickness at such a young age. Bravekit usually gives his brother the credit for saving him, though Brindlekit gets very bashful about it. Either way, he and Bravekit have grown to become very close brothers after that.
It was since that Leaf-bare Brindlekit decided that he wanted to become a Medicine cat apprentice, wanting to know the ways around herbs so that he could help other cats like he did his littermate, has loved the thought of sharing tongues with his ancestors regularly, and has been solid on sticking to the role since then. Many moons later he is now known as Brindlefern, and his brother, now Braveheart, is a Warrior, but even with their paws having trended different paths, their bond is so strong that, as Mistfeather said once, “Not even death can tear them apart.”
With Catmint being the best herb to stop Greencough, and him having helped his brother from said disease, I felt it was a good symbolization for him here. His jaws are literally stuffed with it, ready to help his next patient.
You know what they say, “Old Habits Die Hard”.
He’s a good boy, keeps to the Medicine Cat oath to help others regardless of boundaries, treating them all as equals nomatter what.
Makes me think ‘Brindleheart’ would’ve been a better name for him due to his devotion and loyalty, but oh well, too late now, plus his brother got the prefix for being sorta the same. You could say it rubbed off on him! Haha!
Hope you like!
