Kiki's family and the Lion family have been long time friends.
The friendship between both families is so strong that they would do many favors for each other like caring for each other's children.
Kiki's parents, fed up with her behavior and the constant embarrassment as a result of her actions , sent her to live with the Lion family.
Lion is a very simple-minded man; so simple in fact that it borders on idiocy as he agreed to care for the girl without knowing about her rather unsavory history.
Kiki didn't like her new home and her relationship with the Lion family was not very good.
She hoped that someday her parents would return for her but unfortunately, that day never came.

Kiki, now realizing she had been abandoned by her family, accepts they will never come back for her.

Wow.. That's really harsh.. o-o
Even if she's misbehaving, it's not a reason to send her out to other people to live with without getting her back..
I don't know whole story, maybe they came for her after all, but I bet she wouldn't want to return to such family, that sent her away, instead of fixing everything like a family..
Poor thing.. I want to hug her tight.. ;n;
