The End Of All Things
Breath of blood and a spine of metal, banishing the safety of darkness with it's light.

I like how the kid in the bed looks only about half as terrified as I would be in those circumstances. lol

It's less like, "O SHI- !  IT CAME OUT OF THE CEILING!!" and more "Oh crap, not this again..."  But as everyone is aware, fantastical horrors are common, everyday events in the life of a child.  So that's to be expected.

If anything I think the absence of an over the top reaction lends it more credibility.

I've always thought that true horror would be paralysing. Not something you can actually bring yourself to run away from (or less likely fight).

True that.  Have you ever had one of those episodes where you're almost awake, but you still have sleep paralysis, so you can't react to the nightmares that still occupy your mind?  Those can be some of the scariest seconds of your life.

They can be, it's like your mind is trying to figure out if what you just dreamed is real or not.

I like to think the Studio Ghibli logic applies of large creatures being just big cute playful buggers =P
