Well... Pokemon isn't really centered around the anime, it's first and foremost a videogame franchise- more specifically, an RPG franchise. That, and Shaymin hails from the fourth generation of Pokemon (Diamond/Pearl/Platinum/HeartGold/SoulSilver), which is almost 11 years old at this point.
What I'm basically saying is, you have a *lot* of catching up to do.
