She totally is, guys. XD
At a very young age, she was told by her doctors that she most likely would not be able to walk by the time she was 21 due to a series of tiny tumors that were growing all long her spine. The removal of those tumors was long and painful, and led to a spinal fusion operation, as well as steel rods being inserted along either side of her spine. Over the course of the next few years, those rods would slowly and periodically be extended to help aid in whatever growth they still could. Though she's still about 3 inches shorter than she most likely could have been, she still reached a height of 5'1" and decided to ignore the prognosis of not walking completely.
At 27, she walks, runs, lifts and benches, among so many other things, SO much better than I ever did at my peak. (which, let's face it, isn't saying much.. My peak was at 18 and all I did was ride a bike about 10 miles 3 times a week. She could bend me in half. Backwards. : P)
She was given the nickname "The Unicorn" by some of her co-workers at the gym she used to work at, and I told her I would draw her as one as a result. Finally got around to it recently. ;)
This will eventually see color, too. But, I'm kinda working on this between projects. So, we'll see when I can get around to the rest. :)
