Shit, Coop. I can relate. Lost my dad to cancer after a six year silence between us. All it took was one of us picking up the phone.

well you can do something about it. Its called STOP BEING A BITCH. You never got your closure, so of course you dont believe in it but a lot of this is your fault. except for that whole business about your pops

This isn't even over yet, and you haven't seen everything that happened.

He might not know anything else but abuse from his dad; now he didn't get to show his dad up.

Pretty devastating, and I imagine nobody else bothered to help him grieve.

or he pushed away those that did

Perhaps. I know from a close friend that growing up with that crap being normal causes problems with how you think and perceive the world. It is damaging to a child, and a real sad thing.

well i cant argue that and it is true that our past/childhood can shape us. But we can be the person we are because of or In spite of the things that happened

The past lives strongest in your mind, in the dark, dwelling deep in your heart. That is where it survives and thrives, and though it may never leave you, the effort you expend carrying it with you through the future is the toll you pay for your past crimes against yourself.

well then you didn't get closure, now did ya?
But I hear that in a way.. Had a real messy and confusing(emotionally) break up that took me a long time to work through in my head, and when I reached the forgiveness step and was ready to pick up that phone, I get news that they had died in an accident that week. So, I just have this weird un-closed chapter that I can't do a danged thing about. So I feel him.. just not in anger.

If you had a set of balls Coop, you'd know what closure was.

>_> If he's got a data plan that can call the dead, I want to know which carrier he's with, because I'm switching.
