Fred stood up from the bed, "I think we've had enough crazy for one night. C'mon Zeph, let's get out of here."
They left without the cougar saying a word to them. Back in the tunnel their ears rang and popped like when you are gaining altitude on an airplane. Everything was as normal as when they went into the shelter.
"Was that all real?" Zephyr asked, looking just as confused as Fred.
"I have no idea, that was weird." Fred responded, "Either way, I'm not going back in there."
"Me either." Zephyr responded.
After they had a snack of beef jerky they tried to see if the giant metal doors were unlocked. They were not. The doors were so huge it was uncertain if they could open them if they were unlocked. So they pointed their flashlights to the tunnel across from the shelter and headed on in. Pipes were everywhere. It was some utility tunnel for some building or something on the surface. It ended in a basement with boxes everywhere piled high. There were also crates of old dishes and glasses. It must be the basement to a restaurant, bar, or event space of some kind. There were concrete steps leading to a hatch in the ceiling. To the right near the floor was a vent.
