And ranking in at the no. 1 spot above all others. The best hero of all time is the aptly titled All Might. I mean, he literally is ranked as the no. 1 hero in an entire world where super hero is a profession. You can't really place higher than that. While he's probably the most recent character in this lineup, he is no less deserving of that title, pretty much being Superman done in all the right ways! However, one of the main reasons I'm adding him is because of the freakish similarity his true form has to my own art style; that's actually how this series was introduced to me! A friend of mine told me there was an anime with a character in it that looked exactly like my art style, granted I've heard things like this before and I usually take them with a grain of salt as they're usually very wrong in that statement, since most people I know lack basic common sense when it comes to art, however I gave it a look and... was dumbfounded! There on the page was something that looked straight from my own twisted mind! It really was uncanny how much it rivaled my own style, so I decided to look into more and all I can say is that I'm really glad I did.

My Hero Academia is a great series, ranking in one of my top animes. What really sold the series for me was the art, not just in the bits that looked oddly reminiscent of my own, but just HOW much artistic knowledge the creator has of the super hero genre. Past his true form, I was blown away by how much All Might's hero form looks like something ripped straight from silver era Superman (the term silver era even being used in the series) right in the middle of a Japanese comic! Among other various homages such as Todd McFarlane and so on, it was both awesome and awkward to see Japan do such a better job at paying homage to America's comic culture then America seems to be able to do... which brings me to another point.

I've always enjoyed superhero comics; I like them in that they can be cheesy and provide a good role model or message. That while the characters may be false, the ideals they present in a very dark world are very real. Maybe it's idealistic of me to say that, but there's a reason I made a countdown like this, because I do look up to heroes no matter what form they take. However, as years go on, these characters drift further and further from that. The companies that make them keep making the heroes more and more sleazy and detestable and just generally making them characters I don't want to see. The best example of this i can think of have been the Marvel and DC films, which continuously rape their own source material, force in darker agendas to the heroes depicted in them and/or take characters that could be doing great, amazing feats... and fill the running time with endless banter and character fluff. It's maddening to me and that's why I loathe most superhero films, then, out of the blue comes this series that gives me just what I wanted. A super hero that acts like a HERO.

Perhaps it was just due to it coming to me in an extremely dark time in my life, but My Hero Academia does a fantastic job of making you look up to All Might just as much as his world does. The reason for his eternal grin, being used as a beacon of hope no matter how dark things get was inspiring to me. Seeing his struggle and pain in trying to be an unwavering pillar of justice in a corrupt world is something I wanted to see. Him beating the shit out of things despite his weakened state is awesome, and the kind of stuff I want to see from superheroes; not Steve Rogers' track record or Bruce Banner's love life. Maybe I'm rambling, maybe I'm a hopeless nerd, but this is why I gave All Might the much deserved no.1 spot.

Well, that's it folks! My Christmas Countdown, and holiday countdowns for that matter are finally done... Thank God, whats started as a fun idea quickly turned into biting off more then I could chew and stressed out an already stressful time of year even more so! Not to say I didn't enjoy it but... I kinda doubt I'll be doing it again, at least not all three. Anyway, I hope you enjoyed it for what it was and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas~
