The Battle of Eloras was over, the first major Hadean victory against the Val'Turrians since the start of the Incursion War eleven months earlier. The enemy had been pushed back, and two billion lives had been spared. But this battle was not without its price -- seven starships were lost with all crew; a further nine were disabled. Fourteen sustained heavy damage. When it was all said and done, nearly a quarter of the First Fleet had been knocked out of the fight. Now, the weary survivors drift towards home. Some wouldn't see the end of the journey; others would need to be towed back.

Away from the parade of lacerated, broken hulks drifting back to port, their crews listless, a wave of elation was sweeping the Federation -- they knew now that they could win.
