Chapter 1: Umbara’s Secret

Wonderful… looks like I’m getting redeployed to Umbara. Based on my last experience, this is gonna go just swimmingly. According to recon, the Umbrians might be hiding a Separatist Droid Factory somewhere in the forests of the nightmarish planet. These guys never learn, don’t they? We kicked their asses the first time they tried to join the enemy, although with heavy losses and a traitorous General, but we managed to pull though. What makes them think they are gonna get away with helping the Separatists hide a Droid Factory? Whatever the reason is, we are being sent in to confirm there is a Factory on the plant, and if so, destroy it.
However, I’m not gonna have Anakin or even Rex with me, they are busy on the front lines of war. This time, I’m being deployed under General Cassandra, a human from Naboo, with me being the Commanding Officer… more like Captain… of the 501st forces in the area. Three squads of five troopers, including myself are being sent on this mission. On top of that, the small scout squad, maybe three of them, who found the possible Factory in the first place will also be there.
As per usual, the Cruiser we were on board entered Umbara’s system and our Gunships made their way down to the surface.
“Hey, what do you think about the General?” Quicksilver asked beside me. I shrugged.
“She seems just as capable as all the others. She just became a Jedi Knight… I think that’s what it’s called…” I replied. I can't remember who her Master was, but Cassandra became a Knight about a Month ago. She has lead squads in the past, but this is my first time being her 2nd in command, so it’s gonna take a bit to understand how she works.
“I just hope she knows what she’s doing.” Quicksilver admitted.
“Only one way to find out.” I winked.
“Alright boys, Landing Zone is just ahead of us, prepare to disembark.” The pilot reported.
“I hope we don’t get shot down and ambushed like last time…” Quicksilver chuckled. A couple minutes later, we reached the DZ, a small clearing in the dense forest. After we landed, the Gunship pilots bid us good luck and flew off, and we all grouped up in the center of the clearing.
“Jax, take a small squad and see if you can find the Scout’s camp. The rest of us will stay here and secure the imminent area and wait for you to report in.” Cassandra ordered.
“Right away General.” I saluted and turned towards the others. “Quicksilver, Kicks, Lightweight, you're with me. Everyone else, you heard the General!” I rallied up my men and we all disappeared in the forest. Quicksilver seems to go wherever I go, and Kicks was the medic that also survived the first trip to Umbara. Lightweight is a new Trooper to the 501st, he’s normally a Jetpack Trooper, hence his name, but since all the trees and what not on this planet, that wouldn't really work out too well.
“Huh, remember the first time we were here?” Kicks chuckled.
“Yeah, we damn near died in that crash landing.” Quicksilver remarked.
“Thank god we had Kicks with us, I wouldn't of been able to walk.” I added.
“Ah, don't mention it.” Kicks winked.
“I heard about the first Battle of Umbara… pretty nasty stuff.” Lightweight chimed in.
“You don't know the half of it… one of the highest casualty rates in the entire war.” I replied.
“Don’t forget Krell… that guy was an ass.” Quicksilver added.
“What exactly did he do? Like, I know he betrayed the Republic, but how?” Lightweight asked.
“He ended up tricking both the 501st and 212th into attacking each other, all for his own personal gain.” Kicked explained through grinding teeth.
“He told us it was to impress Count Dooku… before we executed his sorry ass.” I added.
“Ouch… that does sound rough.” Lightweight chringed. We all nodded as we continued onward. Soon enough, we found the camp that the Scouts were held up at.
“Sir, glad to finally see you.” The lead Scout Trooper approached me.
“Likewise, Trooper. What’s the situation?” I asked. Kicks, Lightweight, and Quicksilver walked over to the other two Scout Troopers.
“Well, there is definitely some kinda factory a few clicks north of this location, we haven't gotten close enough to tell what it is. It does not look Umbrian, however.” The Trooper explained.
   “Any activity?” I asked.
“Like I said, we haven’t gotten close enough as the forest is too thick, but we have heard some mechanical noises on our scouting runs, that’s the thing that makes us think it’s a Droid Factory.” The Trooper replied.
“Alright, fair enough, hold tight for now. I gotta report this to General Cassandra.” I said. The Trooper nodded and went back to the group. “General Cassandra, this Captain Jax, do you read me?” I activated my communications device.
“Loud and clear, Captain. What’s the score?” Cassandra replied after a couple minutes.
“The scout team in unsure of its exact function, but they are sure that there is a factory out here.” I reported.
“Alright, I guess that will have to do for now. Get back here, we are already setting up camp in the DZ. We’ll figure out our next move when you get back.” Cassandra replied.
“Alright, see back in a few minutes.” I ended the transmission. “Alright boys, we are heading back to the camp.” I shouted at the others, who gathered their equipment and followed me back to camp.

Chapter 2: Ambush!

As we were shambling through the forest, I swear I heard movement from between the trees…. I held up a fist, and we all froze.
“Did any of you guys hear that?” I whispered as softly as I could. We were all silent for a few, long minutes… nothing but the hum of the facility behind us.
“I didn't hea-” One of the Scouts started, but was cut off by a bolt to the face.
   “Ambush!” Lightweight shouted.
“Ugh… of course… it’s always an ambush… alright people, scatter and figure out where they are coming from!” We all split off in different directions and I slung my Z-6 cannon off my back, ready for action. Soon enough, the Umbrians came screaming… literally… from the left of us. I turned around and let the cannon do it’s work, sending down a wall of blue justice, tearing the enemy down one by one.
“Why was I expecting this?” Quicksilver asked beside me, popping shots off with is DC-15 long rifle.
“Guess it’s all part of the routine…” I shrugged, clucking softly. “Alright, you guys pull back, I’ll hold them off.” I added. The squad started to pull back as I walked backwards, slowly to make sure the enemy did not chase us down. Almost all of us made it, but another Scout Trooper was gunned down, taking many shots to the back. I sighed, but knew there was NO WAY he survived that. As soon as the others were clear, I stopped firing and turned around to join them. Heavying the cannon back over my shoulder, I pulled out a D17 hand blaster and popped one last guy who thought he was being cheeky, then finally we all regrouped.
“Well, that was fun.” Lightweight chimed.
“We lost two, however.” The lead Scout reminded us.
“Well, that is just what happens in flash attacks like that, but at least we are closer to the main camp. Let’s get going, before more of them show up.” I explained.
“Yeah, let’s go.” Quicksilver nodded as we all continued on our way, this time on high alert. By the time we got back, Cassandra and the others have already gotten a fully operating camp set up.
“Ah, nice to see you all returned” She smiled as she saw us.
“Not all of us, ma’am. I lost two of my men in an ambush by the Umbrians.” The lea Scout reported.
“Damn… that is a shame… but if they are being so hostile, then maybe they are hiding something.” Cassandra rubbed her chin.
“Or, they just hold a grudge.” Quicksilver offered.
“Yes, I suppose that is an option.” Cassandra laughed softy. “However, you guys should get some rest, you can give me you're full report later.” She added. We all saluted and walked off.
“Hey, how’d the scouting go” Bolt, the lead engineer walked up to us, cleaning his hands with a rag.
“We lost two of the scout troopers, but we can confirm there is a facility out there.” The Scout explained.
“Well, at least there is that… er… you got a nickname?” Bolt asked.
“No, but my serial number is CT - 777 - 777.” The scout replied.
“Alright Lucky Sevens…” Bold chuckled. “Hey, that has a nice ring to it.” He added. The rest of us laughed.
   “Really?” Lucky Sevens replied.
“How about just Sevens then?” I offered.
“Hey, kinda like Fives… but with Sevens.” Lightweight remarked.
“Great… just great…” Sevens rolled his eyes.
“Ah, you’ll get used to it.” I patted him on the shoulder.
“Oh, before you guys go, better cheek the guard duty schedule… it’s posted near the main tent. As we walked over to the main tent, I could see I was pinned on the night shift with Quicksilver.
“Great, why is it the Captain is stuck with the night shift?” I mumbled.
“Don’t look at me, the General made the schedule… she insted that we should have it.” Bolt commented.
“I guess I do see her reasoning… based on our last visit here, I could imagine the Umbrians are not gonna leave us alone.” I rubbed my chin.
“Hey, at least you're not gonna be alone.” Quicksilver chuckled.
“Yes… no matter where I go, I just can’t get away from you.” I rolled my eyes. I looked back on the schedule and saw that a couple rookies were on duty right now. “You guys go on ahead, I’m gonna check in with the current guards.” I looked back to the others. They just shrugged and walks off, and I made my way to the outskirts of the camp.

Chapter 3: Attack of The Commando

I approached the left side mini guard tower, and saw a rookie looking off into the never ending forest with a pair of macrobinoculars.
“Any activity?” I asked, activating my own macrobinoculars.
“No sir, all clear.” The rookie replied, activating his com link. “CT - 4350, anything on your side?” He asked.
“Nothing… seems almost too quiet.” 4350 replied.
“Don’t jinx it… no idea what other tricks the Umbrians have up their sleeves.” I crossed my arms. As if it was timed, I saw a shadow flash across the screen. “What the?” I jumped.
“Did you see something?” The rookie asked.
“Yeah… almost like it was three feet in front of me…” I replied, drawing my hand blasters. Before I could move in to investigate the shadow figure, the com link activated again.
“Commando Droids! There everywhere!” 4350 suddenly reported.
“Commando Droids? How many? 4350, report! How many are there?” I desperately shouted… no response.
“Alert the camp… we got company.” I turned to the rookie, who nodded and ran off. I went to the other side of the camp where two Commando Droids were standing on top of 4350’s body. I felt my eyes narrow under my helmet, but before I could even flinch two more appeared behind me. I spun around to a gun but to the face, sending me falling to the ground, knocking my helmet off in the process. As I was lying on the ground, the sounds of blaster fire and shouting flooded my ears…. fucking Commandos. I sat up and saw one of the droids draw a Vibroblade, and charge up a swing. Using my robotic arm, I blocked the blade and it dig into the metal of my arm, throwing sparks. I reached down to my side and felt the ground until I found one of my hand blasters. Taking aim, I blasted the droid a couple times in the face and the body went limp, crumbling on top of me. The other three were about to react when I heard more blaster bolts… this time a lot closer. After pushing the dead droid off my chest, I stood up and saw Quicksilver and Lightweight standing there.
“About time you two showed up… where’s Kicks?” I mumbled.
“He’s with the General… apparently the Commando Droids were stalking us this whole time, they massed a big enough force to overrun us.” Quicksilver replied.
“At least half of us were dead before we even knew what was going on…” Lightweight added.
“Damn… this is a mess, we gotta find Cassandra and get the hell outta here.” I rubbed my chin, them remembered my helmet. I reached down and grabbed it, putting in back on.
“Last I saw her, she was hold up in the command tent.” Lightweight noted. I nodded and we started to make our way over. As we approached, we saw her, Kicks, and a couple others completely swarmed. I tried bringing out my Cannon, but my damaged arm from the Vibroblade refused to comply. I sighed and pulled out another DC17 with my good arm and started firing. We distracted them enough for Cassandra to cut through and meet us in the middle.
“Good god… I should've figured this would happen..” Cassandra almost seemed mad at herself.
“There will be time for grieving later, right now we gotta find some way to counter attack.” I replied.
“We may not even have time for that…” Kicks pointed off in the distance, more Commandos were marching towards us. I grinded my teeth.
“I don’t think we’ll be able to hand all of that…” Lightweight mumbled.
  “And we won't… I’m calling a retreat….” Cassandra ordered.
   “To where?” Quicksilver asked.
  “Anywhere but here…” I admitted.
“I hate saying this… but we might have to abandon the mission… we underestimated our enemy and are paying the price for it.” Cassandra added.
“I second that decision, General.” I nodded.
“Right, we need to get out of here and get in contact with the Republic fleet. Gather up all the supplies and make sure one of you brings the communications equipment.” Cassandra ordered. We all nodded and started rushing about. By the time we got everything together, the Droids we're on top of us. Slugging a backpack full of food rations over my shoulder, I joined with the rest of the survivors.
“Is that everyone?” I asked, looking around.
   “Looks like it.” Lightweight shrugged.
“Then it’s time to go…” Cassandra eyed the Droids, then turned around to stare off into the forest. She shook it off and the group disappeared among the trees.

Chapter 4: Lost

We ran for what seemed like miles… all five of us. Myself, Quicksilver, Lightweight, Kicks and Cassandra. We could only assume that no one else survived that attack… why do all the bad missions happen on Umbara? Is this place plagued with bad luck or something? After a while, we found a cave to settle down in.
“Now what the hell are we gonna do? We almost got completely wiped out in one single attack… that was what? Five, maybe ten of them? We had fifthteen troopers there!” Lightweight mumbled.
“Remember, they were Commando Droids. They are the best of what they have to offer… the perfect balance between the smarts of a Tactical Droid, the toughness of a Super Battle Droid, and the agility of a normal clanker.” I explained.
“That doesn't really help us…” Kicks admitted. Cassandra just stood by the entrance of the cave, rubbing her chin and staring off into the endless darkness beyond.
“Any ideas General?” I walked up beside her. Cassandra sighed.
“Not yet… how's the communications going?” She asked
“Quicksilver has been working on it since we got here on top of the cave. Without the proper equipment it’s gonna take much longer.” I replied.
“We don’t have that kind of time!” Cassandra snapped. “Every minute those blasted tin cans get stronger, it’s only a matter of time before we are wiped out.” She added, leaning against the rock.
“Then I recommend we keep moving… maybe we can find a smaller encampment, even if it would be Umbarian. If we could take it over intact, we would have a better chance of getting the communications online.” I offered.
“Alright… I guess it’s our best course of action. Tell the others we move out in five.” Cassandra ordered. I nodded and walked back inside.

“What do you mean we are just gonna get up and leave?” Kicks asked after I told them the news.
“We have a better chance of contacting the Republic if we find a different encampment.” I explained.
“I for one have to agree… I mean, do we have any better idea?” Quicksilver walked inside, with the communications equipment over his shoulder. Kicks sighed, but gathered up his medical gear regardless. I don’t like how we are on the run either, but what are our other options? Sit here and wait to be taken out? No thank you.
After we had everything all gathered up, we started moving once more, in a circle formation, Cassandra leading the way. It sucks that my robotic arm is still messed up, I can only use a single hand blaster… cause if I try to do anything else with my arm, it just freaks the hell out. But in any case, we pushed on… ready the face whatever hell this planet had left to dump on us.

Chapter 5: Hostile Takeover

As we were walking, we heard a rustle in the bushes. We all froze in place…. Then we heard it again, of to the left. Finally, it decided to jump out at us… without thinking, I ran up and clocked it in the side of the head with my hand blaster. On a second look, I noticed it was Sevens, the lead scout. And I just knocked off his helmet.
“Owwwww….” He groaned in annoyance. The other Troopers chucked behind us.
“Sorry, but awkwardly creeping around us does not really help…” I shrugged.
“Whatever… is this all that survived?” Sevens asked. I nodded.
“Those Commando Droids steamrolled us.” I replied.
“Half of us were dead before we even noticed what was going on.” Quicksilver noticed.
“Well, what the hell are you even doing now?” Sevens picked up his helmet, now dented on the right side.
“The plan was to look around for a Umbrian outpost to take over.” Cassandra walked over.
“Well, well, well. You're in luck. I just so happened to find a Umbrian supply outpost just a few clicks west from here.” Sevens reported.
“In that case there is no time to waste, quickly, lead the way!” Cassandra ordered. Sevens nodded and lead us through the trees.

A few minutes later, we reached what looked like a decently sized mountain…. I didn't even knew Umbra had mountains. But in any case, Sevens stopped us here.
“The sly bastards got a communications hub in their they have been using to talk with the Seperistates.” he explained.
“Alright, good work.” Cassandra gave him a nod.
“So, what’s the score boss?” I asked. Cassandra let off a smile and activated her lightsaber.
“Everyone in that cave is hostile.” We shared a nod as I turned to the others.
“Alright everyone, you heard her! We are going for a hostile takeover!” I told the others as we leaped from our hiding spot, charging the cave. We stormed in, and computer consoles were scattered across the cave floor with wires leading up the walls. Dozens of Umbrains looked up to find all of us standing there, weapons drawn.
“Okay, listen… we are giving you one chance only… give up now. We know this is a secret communications facility used to talk with the Sepies…” Before Cassandra could even finish a bolt came flying at her, of course, she deflected it easily. “Well… so much for that…” she muttered before the rest of us opened fire. After all the dust settled, only one guy was left… he must of not been a fighter cause he just stood there. I approached him slowly, spun him around, and cuffed him. Soon, we had him surrounded in the middle of the cave.
“Do these guys even speak English?” I asked… everyone shrugged.
“Why yes, some of us do…” The Umbrian answered.
“Well then Mr. Backstab, what the hell is with all of this?” I kneeled beside him.
“Really? You savages had us under lockdown. You really think we’d just let that happen?” The Umbrian spat at me.
“Last time I cheeked, it was you guys who wanted to join the Separatists.” Quicksilver noted.
“You did barely anything after our senator died! You're Republic is just falling apart!” snapped the Umbarian.
“Yeah yeah… whatever… Quicksilver, could you access the communications system?” Casseranda asked.
“It will take some time, but I can do it.” Quicksilver replied.
“Alright then, get on it.” Cassernada ordered. Quicksilver nodded and went to it. That left myself, Cassandra and the other troopers surrounding the Umbarian, wondering what the hell to do with him.
