Well... wasn't supposed to draw anything Zootopia related ever, but the idea of drawing something from the rejected original plot was interesting. I think this plot was much more interesting that what it ended up to be, so giving it some more art is okay. About Zootopia, it's good, but really nothing incredible. And I think it's getting way too much fanart these days!
your not the only one who thought the original plot was more interesting, but it was also far far less kid freindly, the plot they went with in the end was the nice middle ground, broadly apealing, nice message, decent charicters and one hell of a well fleshed out world for it all to take place in.
there are a number of comics that were made to take place in the original version of the world as well as a few alternate universe ones, for example sunderance [think thats what the name was] is a version of it where judy is a lawyer instead of a cop and nick is her hired bodygaurd/escort during her first trip to zootopia. iirc

I don't agree with you. It can be kid-friendly even with being much darker, but it seems that the trend nowadays is to remove every bit of dark from films and cartoons. I agree that the characters, humour, designs and world are splendid though, but the story is pretty bland to me.

the story was too diffrent for that, if you want to get an idea there are a few deleted scenes that are floating around the internet, they even had voice acting in them and everything...
basic diffrences: nick was originaly the core star with judy being the one playing second fiddle, zootopia was a much grittier place more in line with the distopian view [ie metropolis] predators were all required to wear shock colars riged to a system that measured there emotions, if they grew too excited [either thru anger or joy] the colars would administer a progresivly stronger shock till they calmed down...or passed out.

let me rephrase, it was too dark for what most producers and soccer moms 'belive' a child can handel these days...back in the 90s the original script would have gotten green lit in half a second.

This is what was originally going to have Nick being a dad that lost his son and wears a shock collar because he is a preaditor but that changed to what the movie is now

The little that I had heard about that story has put my mind into overdrive and I had come up with a story based on just the collared pred society idea. Unfortunately I'm not much of a writer so I doubt I'll ever be able to get it out of my head.
