Another first at my first MFF last year...military action. The entirety of MFF was pretty surreal for me, almost every commission was a first.
This one was pretty difficult on my emotions for me to do. I used war photography to help out with the background, and at one point I had to stop and cry for a bit because of feelings of empathy for soldiers and casualties of war that I saw in the photos. I will admit that in the final version I put tears running down from behind the visor; though I don't believe it's something the character would do, but it's a byproduct of my investment in the art that I create. The gun Buck-Aye is firing is a M240.
All the files are from photos I took with my phone, so there will be issues with the quality, imo.
