In the distant corners of our galaxy, the fair Goddess Antowas created the planet Quartilia from a single jewel, a paradise ripe with the elements that give it life and power, earth, air, light, jungle, water, ice, stone and fire. Among the inhabitants of her design were two human beings, a boy and a girl, from a red gem and a green gem; they were the Adam and Eve of Quartilia, Astal and Leda.
Processing remarkable physical strength, Astal’s purpose was to protect Leda from whatever harm may come to her, for her power was that of creation, life and harmony to the inhabitants of Quartilia. Believing himself stronger than anyone or anything, Astal inevitably grew overprotective of Leda, but she loved him very much, and prayed that one day, Astal would love her back, and demonstrate compassion for those around him.
Content with her work, Antowas slept above the heavens. But the peace she brought was not to last, for the evil god Jerado attempted to take Quartilia for himself, and bend the inhabitants to his will. To accomplish his task, he created another human being with great powers; Geist. Geist had captured Leda and imprisoned her at the bottom of Quartilia’s deepest ocean. Outraged and shocked, Astal exhausted every effort to free Leda from Jerado’s grip, nearly destroying the planet in the process. There was a mighty duel beneath the ocean between Astal and Geist, as the knowledge of swimming was not known to him, Astal was nearly defeated by Geist and Jerado’s demon army, but in a last act of desperation, with one last slam before the air left his tired lungs, Astal shattered the ocean floor, sucking in Jerado’s demon army, and presumably burying Geist beneath the rubble.
As Leda freed herself, and returned the drowned Astal to drier lands, she was shocked by what Astal had done; his show of strength on Quartilia’s ocean crust had consequently broken the planet, upsetting the balance of nature and the elements, awakening Antowas. Frightened and disgusted by what Astal’s power could do when unleashed, she had little choice but to banish him from Quartilia. Leda took pity on Astal and handed him her jewel as a memento so he could always remember her. Taking him beyond the reaches of Quartilia, Antowas chained Astal to the moon, whereafter watching Astal’s oxygen be robbed by the vacuum of space, sending him to an endless sleep, Antowas was heartbroken, having to watch her creation fall so low, so full of life, all in vain, slept again after defeating Jerado and his allies of darkness.
But the dark god was not yet sent to rest, for a majority of his armies still roamed the land, reshaping Quartilia to his baneful image, and Geist kidnapped Leda again, her cry of help awakening Astal from his slumber on the moon, breaking free and returning to the planet. Now back on the ground, Astal vows to defeat Jerado, Geist and his armies of chaos, now accompanied by a strange bird that follows him everywhere…
