Impmon, Ai, and Mako stood in a circle in the sand, surrounding the makeshift table made of a board sitting on a bucket the two humans had insisted in erecting on their own.  On the table, three large water guns sat, filled with water that had been kept in the ice chest during their family trip to the beach to make sure the ammo was nice and ice cold.

"Okay, you know the rules, Impmon, right?" Mako asked, casting what he no doubt thought was a sly wink to his sibling.

"Sure, sure, I know," the demon digimon said, nonchalantly rubbing his nose.  "We count to ten, then we each grab a gun and start firing.  Last one out of water wins, right?"

"Right, and no ganging up on someone.  'Cause that wouldn't be fair," Ai pronounced, returning her brother's wink with all the same subtlety.

"Yeah, yeah, I know," Impmon responded, picking his ear and finding something interesting in it.  "I don't know why you guys are making such a big fuss.  This is, what, the sixth time you've told me the rules.  It's almost like you want to make sure I know 'em."  Impmon grinned as he gave his two tamers a sideways glance, a single fang glinting in the sunlight.  It didn't escape his notice how the two humans suddenly felt the need to bite their respective lips.  Impmon clapped his hands, getting into a ready position.  "All right, lets do this."  The two humans also tensed.  "One..."

"Two...  Three..."

"Four... uh, oh yeah, Five..."

"Six... Seven..."

"Eiiiiiight... ... ... Niiiiine..."

"TEN, BONZAI!" yelled a shrill voice as a small, white ball cannonballed down from above, striking the board and flipping it into the air.

"Calumon!" Ai and Mako cried in disbelief as the weird digimon gave them a raspberry before climbing into the bucket.

"Hey lookee-lookee," Calumon called out as he pulled forth a jiggling red water balloon.

"Those are ours!" Mako cried, charging towards the encroaching digimon only to catch a stream of water to the face.

"What...?" A second stream of water caught Ai in the same.  Impmon laughed triumphantly as he held two of the water guns that had gone flying.

"Now what is this?  Water balloons?  And here I thought we agreed to only use water guns," Impmon chided, grinning at the two soaked kids.  "You weren't perchance planning to use those to bushwhack ol' Impmon, were you?" Again he aimed the two water guns and fired, but this time Ai was ready, diving for the final gun while her little brother got soaked.  Calumon hopped out of the bucket, his short arms full of water balloon ammunition as he ran over to Impmon, laughing.

"Darn you, Impmon, how'd you know?" Ai asked as she aimed and fired, narrowly missing her nimble target.

"Because you two couldn't stop snickering at each other.  I knew something was up, so I called Calumon and we found your little stash."  The digimon ducked as another water spray sailed past him.  "So much for not ganging up on someone, huh, Ai?"

"No fair, no fair," Mako screamed.  "I don't have a gun now.  Gimme one of yours, Impm--- bwaargh!"  Mako's voice sputtered as he was hit with one of the balloons.

"What are ya angry about?  I don't have one either," Calumon called back, trying his best to hold onto his arsenal without dropping any.   Mako's face skewed up in anger as he grabbed hold of the bucket's handle, pulling the heavy container forward as he tried to grab balloon to throw himself.

"Ai, trade with me, I can't pull this."

"Nuh-uh, Mako, not my fault you let Impmon take your gun."

"Come on, Mako, don't be a whiner," Impmon called out as he fired again, forcing the boy to duck away.  "This makes it fair, a gunner and bomber versus a gunner and bomber.  We even left you most of the water balloons."  The boy angrily gritted his teeth and reached into the bucket, slinging a balloon as hard as he could.  It wasn't a very good throw, but at this point Mako was too angry over his situation to care.

And so the afternoon went, Impmon and Calumon racing down the beach as Ai and Mako chased after them.

A little idea I had.  I know, I'm the retail store of artwork, making summer pics in the cold of winter and winter pics for summer.  Still, I think this went pretty good, and it was fun to do.  Hope everyone else enjoys it too.
