Okay but seriously. How. The. FUCK. Have I not added in Skeletor until now? Like... I'm not even joking now. HOW have I never added friggin' SKELETOR!? I mean, I've almost done so numerous times, but I kept second guessing it. Maybe I felt it was too easy, or much more likely I felt giving this mincing putz any kind of recognition is more then her deserves, regardless I haven't and I should be ashamed of myself; both for not adding him in so long and for adding him in period. It's a cruel, unforgiving fate in the end and how fitting. Well, he's in now and I can't take it back.
I've always viewed Skeletor as one of the greatest disappointments in all of villain history. While he's well known only due to nostalgia, Skeletor is without a doubt the most hilariously incompetent villain of all time and God do I love him for that. Really, there's a lot of things that go in his favor. He has a pretty kickass appearance I won't deny. That alone makes him look threatening, on top of that he is the undisputed sass master of the universe and has some of history's greatest insults and along with numerous, laughably inexplicable powers that come and go as the writers pleased, Skeletor COULD be a good villain... but every shred of his prowess and ability to intimidate is lost the millisecond he opens his mouth. That grating, whiny voice forever destroys him AND somehow makes him the greatest thing ever!
Now I know saying that he always loses seems like a moot point, when truthfully the villain ALWAYS loses especially in the era of 80's cartoon cheese but even for that arch type, Skeletor took the cake. Even if they lost in the end, other villains have been known to succeed once in a while and at least have sometime to gloat amongst the ashes. Hell, even the infamously down trodden Bowser Koopa has bested Mario multiple times, but Skeletor fails in ever sense of the word. His the the biggest buffoon of the darkside and what vague accomplishments he's ever gained are destroyed before he even realizes he's somewhat won; not to mention he spends most of his time on juvenile, impudent dick moves as opposed to actual evil deeds.
I always view Skeletor as a very sad, pathetic little man; a "Squidward" of villainy if you will. A misunderstood twat that could have maybe contributed to society if He-Man hadn't pushed him around and now he's too far gone to try and make amends for being such a worthless shit... and GOD do I love him for it. Yes, make no mistake for as much as I'm openly shitting on him, I fucking ADORE Skeletor. He is one of my all time favorite characters for ALL of the negative reasons I just listed. That being said, I knew if he ever got in he needed to be put into the Final Five (this was one of the reasons ruling down the last ten was so hard and why characters like Bill Cipher and the Beast lost out in top billing) But with that in mind, Skeletor only get into the Final Five because of my own love for him. The sheer thought of him getting so high in anything is laughable and I knew that even in this high ranked position, he still had to be the bottom rung of that latter too; just wallowing in his own inability to fully succeed at anything, just like Skeletor should!
