She's from another universe. Not originally her name but hearing so many times "Surely" from her master, like "Surely wouldn't want that!" it was used more than her name so she adopted that
She was born near a town on the outskirts, taken as a survivor froma young age as her enclave was caught in crossfire between two groups of humans fighting for resources under their enclave, helping the appotecary who saved her until she was old enough to go out and find another enclave. Her book with master's writing and bag being something that the appotecary gave her before leaving, the book containing a brief explanation of the only herbs she learned to use. She discovers a paralisis poison by watching some yinglets (and herself a few times) get stung by fish gloves which she would use on her dagger during her travel for protection until settling in a new enclave.
