Short short short version? One half of my long, drawn out, bullshitty space opera setting (which does have cub and BDSM in parts, fair warning) Involves a growing sub-set of stories about kids using custom assembled robots like in Medabots and aht one gundam spinoff and whatever LBX is really called. BUT I try to paint it more with the brush of my odd fascination with Yugioh GX, complete with the upcoming arc for that subset of stories having an academy focused on learning to play and work on that one game. I don't know why but the idea of having a school, societal expectation and even career aspirations based on a kids game has always, always fascinated me. I was just writing out one of those fights now.
Also the daughter of the main character in my more grounded/slice of life story has mentioned she plays with a horribly thought out Shaddoll/Charmer deck. Something she'll probably fine to be Shaddoll/something else later.
To me, at least, seeing sudden GX style yugioh duelist was a massive irony due to my own tangential mind and what I was writing at the time. Take that as you will.
