LOBO (Lord of Bovi Online) is a Flash game parody of Lore of Caprini Online (LOCO) featuring the characters from the Boviverse universe which was originally from Pow Fable.
LOCO is a text adventure style sandbox RPG with non-server status-password-based turn-based multiplayer system.
LOBO works the same way but certain features have been altered to make the game more suited to the Boviverse community.
The parody, like the game it's copying, takes place in a modern day setting (not shown here) where talking herd animals populate the world. The main difference being that the original game's animals were goats and the parody is cows.
There are also several differences to the way the game plays. For example the game contains dietary and toilet needs as a mechanic. Day, time, money and resting statistics are shown on the heads up display. The game has scheduled events, achievements to collect and cutscenes which can be watched via a menu. Continue and Skip functions are each controlled via their own button to the top-right of the dialogue box. Options are also much easier to navigate and tend to follow predictable patterns.
In the original game each player controlled their character for 24 real world hours before handing control over to the next player. In this game like many of the parodies players only control their character for 1 hour at a time.
Players who are waiting their turn can play what's called "Dream Mode". In this mode a player can freely move around and do what they want with no time constraints. However whatever the player does will not be saved and will not affect the other people playing the game. When it is the player's turn again anything that was done in this time will be forgotten and the game will carry on from the previous player's turn. The idea is that this plays like a dream, like you're sleeping whilst waiting your turn. Dreams do not affect the real world but it gives you the opportunity to try things you could do whilst awake without consequences.
After a player has played the game for an hour the game will pause and the option to save a password will appear. Give this password to the next player in order and they will be able to unpause their game and play for an hour until it pauses again and gives them a new password, which in turn they hand over to the next player etc etc. This password holds all the information about the current state of the areas in the world and the characters in them including the items they have.
Players that are taking part in scenes or dialogue when their turn ends will not lose their place. Each 'round' consists of 1 turn by each of the players. Each turn takes place over the same 1 hour period in game. After every player has taken a turn the round is over and the game will move onto the next round and of course the next in game hour. Each round the first player to take their turn will be the next player in order. This is so 1 player doesn't just bias events in their favor before the other players have a turn.
Like the original, managing life events is the key to success and not combat, however the parody has a few surprises mixed in. There's also a cheat system built into this game with silly modes like growing and shrinking as well as practical stuff like infinite money and never needing to eat or use the toilet. However every player has to input the same cheat in order for the cheat to work.
If you like life simulators you'll like this game. And finally the default order the characters play in is:
Lilac, Parma, Clover, Chariot, Tang and then Hammer.
