Have not got an answer as to why... but that damn LEGO bug bit me again. Dug out my old LEGO collection...
One thing leading to another, I decided I'd have a go at modeling Sally *^_^*
[In this model, she has just stolen a fusion powercore from one of Robotnik's powerplants, and is inquiring
Nicole to analyse it's power output to see if it is suitable for her de-robotosiser]
Took about 2 weeks to model her. [Well okay... so I did most of it whilst at work to kill time.] Still some
aspects I am not happy about, but I will just call this v1.3.3.2! I've scrutinised and made many optimisations
but it is likely I will have future revisions. She has almost full articulation on all normal joints. Originally
modeled in LDD... this image was rendered with Stud.IO... it does not properly handle some bits though,
like the yellow powertube and the chain bit.
The goal here was to model her, but NOT by making a HUGE model... and WITHOUT blocky square bricks
(like MOST others do...). Why? Its too EASY to just use blocks like pixels... and if the scale is huge... also too easy.
Without getting too geeky... being most on here are graphical artists... I will just call it 'LEGO pixelation'.
Its the same concept as pixelation in artwork and other graphic mediums. If you have 3x3 pixel resolution,
and want to make a circle... it will look like shit. NOW... if you bump resolution up to 100x100
(but KEEP the physical size of the canvas the same, aka DPI)... your circle will look heaps better...
IN the LEGO world... the LEGO bits are like pixels... but unlike screens and art... you CANNOT change the
DPI, or to be literal, the physical size of the LEGO bits. SO... the only way to get better resolution in LEGO
world, is to increase the scale of your model.
SO.... the real challenge here, is getting the best appearance in the smallest package. NO easy feat! In
addition to limitations of availability and etc...
I have most of the bits on hand to actually build her, I am just waiting on the final packet of bits to arrive
from Denmark, as well as some key bits from a nice bloke in Victoria *^_^*
***Special thanks goes to someone special (she knows who she is!) for making this possible (fundage!). Much much thanks!
This is the first time I actually completed this kind of model... in the past a couple years ago, I had intended on
modeling Elora and Spyro... but it never got finished as key bits were not avail, nor were funds... LEGO is exy!
