"You're doing great, your majesty... just one more push!"
A loud scream can be heard as a young adult hedgehog goes through labour. A few seconds later a soft cry is heard and a young female mobian smiles up at the young mother, who was named Aleena.
"Congratulations your majesty, your first child has been born."
Aleena smiles as she sighs in relief and looks down as the young nurse cuts her umbilical cord. The young infant cries louder and clenches it's fists. Aleena smiles and looks over to the young nurse. She watches as the nurse and a young horse-like mobian both walk over to a small cot. The nurse gently lays the baby onto it and observes the baby closely.
"Let's see... 10 centimeters long, 2 pounds 3 ounces, royal blue fur, time of birth: 9:30am."
The young horse-like mobian turns back and walks over to Aleena, gently holding her hand and smiling at her.
"Your baby looks very well, Aleena."
The young female sighs once again and smiles weakly up at the horse-like mobian.
"It is such a relief to hear that, Whinny."
Aleena soon looks up and notices the young nurse turn to her. She smiles softly as she speaks.
"You have a healthy little boy, your majesty..."
Aleena and Whinny both smile to each other before watching the nurse walk towards their direction. The nurse gently hands the infant to Aleena and watches as she looks down into her arms.
The little blue hedgehoglet whimpers and gently starts to nuzzle his face into Aleena's chest. Aleena smiles down and kisses the top of his head.
"Hello, my little prince..."
"He seems very clingy, doesn't he?"
Aleena giggles softly from Whinny's comment and soon notices the little infant trying to feed off her. Whinny assists Aleena in allowing the infant to nurse off her.
"Quite impatient too..."
The young mobians watch as the tiny hedgehoglet begins to nurse. He places his tiny hand onto Aleena's breast as he drinks at a quick speed. Aleena opens her eyes widely and gently pulls him away a bit.
"Slow down, my little prince... we do not want you to become ill."
The little hedgehoglet slows down before pulling away a few minutes later. He lets out a small cough and Aleena gently rubs his back. A few seconds later, the little hedgehoglet lets out a little burp and both Aleena and Whinny giggle softly.
The little hedgehoglet lets out a little yawn as he rubs his eyes with his tiny hands. Aleena kisses the little hedgehoglet's head once again and soon gasps as she places a hand on her stomach.
Whinny lowers her ears and gently holds Aleena's hand.
"Are you alright, Aleena?"
"I... I think that the second child is coming."
The nurse overhears the conversation and walks over. She watches as Aleena holds the little hedgehoglet up to her.
"P-please, keep him somewhere safe."
"Of course your majesty, I will take him to his bedroom."
The nurse nods as she gently takes the hedgehoglet into the other room. She lays him into his cot and gasps as he begins to cry. The nurse gently rubs the little boy's head.
"It is alright, little one... you will be with your mother again soon, I promise."
The little hedgehoglet continues to cry as the nurse assists Aleena with the birth of her second child.
A few minutes later, another loud crying sound is heard. The nurse smiles down at the second child and take a closer look at her.
"Ah, 10 centimeters once again... 2 pounds 4 ounces and magenta fur. Time of birth: 9:50am."
The nurse proceeds to wrap a blanket around the little hedgehoglet before walking over to Aleena. She gently hands the infant over.
"It is a girl, your majesty."
Aleena smiles proudly and gently holds the little girl in her arms as the nurse passes her over. She looks down at the little girl, who was surprisingly calm.
"I have always wanted a little girl."
Whinny smiles as she looks down at the little hedgehoglet.
"She is beautiful, Aleena."
Aleena smiles and nods before proceeding to kiss the little infant's head. The little girl makes a small squeaking sound and begins to feed off Aleena at a slower and much calmer pace. Once the feed was finished, the nurse notices Aleena going through another contraction and Aleena slowly holds the little girl up to the nurse.
"I... I think I feel another contraction."
The nurse nods before gently taking the little hedgehoglet from Aleena. She goes into the other room and lays her into a cot next to the little male's. The little male whimpers and the nurse watches as the little female begins to fall asleep. The nurse checks on the hedgehoglets before heading back to Aleena to assist with the final birth.
A few minutes later, a loud cry is heard as the birth of the final child takes place. The nurse checks over the final infant and makes note of the details alongside the other two's forms.
"9.5 centimeters, 2 pounds 1 ounce, interesting... emerald green fur, time of birth: 10:05am. This one is quite small compared to the others but perfectly healthy."
Aleena sighs softly as she watches the nurse wrap the final infant in a blanket. The nurse then walks over and hands her the tiny hedgehoglet.
"Congratulations your majesty, it is another boy."
Whinny and Aleena both smile down at the little infant. The final hedgehoglet nuzzles into Aleena's chest and Aleena smiles softly at the hedgehoglet's somewhat crazy hairstyle, gently running her fingers through it.
"I must be the luckiest woman in Mobius to receive three beautiful children..."
Mayor Whinnyham smiles and nods before sitting on the bed next to Aleena. She assists Aleena with feeding the little hedgehoglet but makes a curious expression at the little boy fusses with the feeding.
"Hmm, it seems that he's not quite as hungry..."
Aleena watches curiously as the little male nurses at a slower pace. The nurse smiles as she turns from the cot.
"Do not worry, your majesty... sometimes it can take a while for a hedgehoglet to nurse, especially when they are quite small."
Aleena smiles and nods as she looks down at the little boy, who was making little cooing sounds as he nurses. Aleena giggles a bit from the sounds and gently kisses the infant's head as he soon stops nursing. He coughs a bit and Aleena gently rubs his back, allowing him to burp.
"Don't worry, my little prince... you will see your brother and sister soon."
At that moment, Aleena looks up and smiles as the nurse enters the room, holding the remaining two hedgehoglets.
"Speaking of which..."
The young nurse smiles and walks over, gently handing the hedgehoglets to Aleena. The little girl sniffles a bit as she nuzzles into Aleena's chest, making little snuffling sounds. Aleena giggles a bit from the snuffling and soon awaits her little boy. The little boy whines and Aleena gently runs her finger along the little hedgehoglet's muzzle.
"Shhh... mommy's here, my little prince."
The little boy gently grips onto Aleena's finger with his tiny hand and begins to calm down. The nurse smiles as she holds her clipboard and begins to write down the babies' details.
"You have three healthy babies, your majesty..."
Aleena smiles softly and nods as she looks up at the nurse.
"I really must owe you, Nurse. You have helped me throughout the birth of my beautiful children... you too, Whinny."
Both the nurse and Whinny smile to each other before smiling down at Aleena.
"It was my pleasure, your majesty."
"Anything for you, Aleena. Oh... did you have any ideas for names?"
Aleena smiles down at the little hedgehoglets and notices the little pink-furred female make a little squeaking noise. She kisses her forehead and gently brushes her hair back from her eyes.
"Well, I have always wanted a little girl... and I already had the name Sonia in mind."
"I think it's a perfect name, your majesty..."
"Couldn't agree more, Aleena."
Aleena smiles down at the little female and soon notices the little green-furred male kicking his feet a bit. Aleena giggles from the display and gently kisses his forehead.
"I'm guessing that you want to be named next, my little prince?"
The little male squeals in response and the nurse, Whinny and Aleena all giggle.
"Hmm... what to call you."
As Aleena and the nurse ponder over name ideas, Whinny soon gently runs a hand through the little boy's hair and giggles a bit.
"I must say that I like his hairstyle... quite different but cute."
The nurse giggles also as she continues to write on her clipboard.
"Kind of manic in a way... don't you think?"
Aleena giggles in response but soon smiles down at the little green-furred hedgehoglet.
"Wait... manic. Manic Hedgehog... I rather like the sound of that."
"Manic? That is quite an unusual but cute name..."
"Manic it is, your majesty."
Aleena smiles and soon notices the eldest sibling kicking his feet impatiently and whining a bit. She gently kisses his muzzle and watches as he nuzzles into her chest. She giggles a bit from his impatient nature.
"It is alright, my little prince... we'll be naming you now."
The little hedgehoglet lets out a little yawn and rubs his eyes with his hands.
"You do remind me a lot of my grandfather, little one... he looked a lot like you. Now, what was his name? Ah yes... his name was Sonic."
Whinny smiles and gently ruffles the little hedgehoglet's quills.
"I think Sonic is a lovely name, Aleena..."
"Especially since he is quite impatient and feeds rather quickly..."
Aleena giggles and soon lets out a small sigh as she looks down at the three little hedgehoglets, proudly. Little Manic does a little stretch and yawns before nuzzling against his older brother's head. The eldest male whines a bit from the feeling but soon nuzzles back against Manic's head. Little Sonia sucks her thumb as she nuzzles her head between the two males.
Aleena smiles from the display and gently kisses the hedgehoglets' foreheads.
"Welcome to Mobius, my children."
