Damn bro, I must've missed this one. This is easily some of your best work here not just from a technical aspect, but from a metaphorical one, too. Like seriously, this is a really good way to handle it. You scar a kid for life if you just constantly spank and just leave 'em. You gotta go back and give them love right then and there, too! Seriously, think about it... Why would a kid want to be around someone who they know mostly to dole out punishment? They're a damn kid! They don't see past the surface level of what you show them - what a child sees is what the child believes. Not kidding, I don't see this too often, and I was thrown for a loop when i saw the last page. I honestly thought that this was gonna end with the boys sitting in the corner and crying in time-out, but shit, I guess I was wrong. I really love this piece, and the epilogue was pretty sweet, too!

Oh my god, this is too much praise!! I'm still relatively pleased with it. There's a big perspective issue in the first one (which unfortunately bled into the epilogue), but... c: Am overall still happy with how it came out!
As for spanking... I can't do it personally. >.>;;;;; I hated it as a kid, so I'm way too hesitant to do anything physical hahaha

I don't know if I want to specifically comment about what I would do here, but I mean, what else would these kids have as some kind of incentive to behave? Confiscating their phone or the DS or whatever the fuck doesn't really work for them here, 'cuz they aren't addictied to that shit, obviously (they're playing outside ffs), so what else is gonna teach them? I just feel like if that does end up being the only form of negative reinforcement that works, there needs to be a clear line between abuse, and physical harm that comes from love. When that love is there, it's clear to a kid, and it sticks with them. Love is the supreme emotion - that's why things like ecstasy, joy, and serenity are at the top of Plutchik's wheel of emotions.

I suppose I've also never been in the position myself, so I just can't say anything one way or another... It's always the attempt to toe the line between "consequences" and "spoiling" x_x;;

Well yeah, if a kid is doing something they shouldn't but the thing they're doing doesn't have any inherent negative consequences, then it rests on the caretakers to make a consequence clear - that's how you learn anything and everything valuable: the hard way.
