Flare here was my trainer Andy's first Pokémon, and they've been through a lot together. He's not actually as old as he looks, but he's tough enough to pull off the whole "grizzled warrior" routine regardless. =P He lost his wing and his eye to an unfortunate crit battling against Blue, and Andy hasn't worked up the determination to try for the Earth Badge again since.
