Undercom Story Part 6: Rescue Mission

Chapter 1: Running Into A Bad Time
“Come on Sans, do we have to?” Fell Papyrus groaned at me, but there was no changing my mind. Me and my brother have only been in this timeline for a couple of days and I wanna look around. You see, me and my brother originally come from Underfell, a Undertale AU that had a timeline mishap and Classic Frisk ended up sending me and other Underfell characters into the Classic Undertale timeline through a magic portal thing. And the Timeline we ended up in was a frozen timeline where everyone did make it to the surface, but the surface world was locked in the middle of a war between two groups known as Xcom and Advent. The only thing I know about the timeline freeze was that it was Error Sans, a glitched version of Classic Sans that went insane and wants to destroy all AU’s. But enough of that, soon after being thrown into the Classic World, we meet our nicer twins and before you know it, we kinda just casually joined Advent cause Classic Sans and Papyrus joined them. But we still don’t know the landscape so I decided to drag my brother on an ADVENTure. Yes, pun intended.
*“No, you are not getting outta this one, you're coming with me bro.” I dragged my brother from the scarf outside the Advent Training Blacksite witch is kinda our home now. We passed the Guard tower where Shields, a human shieldbearer was half asleep. He opened his eyes and saw us walking out.
“Hey, where you two going?” Shields ywaned.
*“On a ADVENTure, and I’m dragging Papyrus with me.” I replied, chuckling a bit.
“Alright, just don’t get killed.” Shields replied, leaning back in his chair. Soon I heard snoring and decided to just leave him. We left the Blacksite area and made our way down a premade pathway, taking in the trees and noting a river to our left.
“Why are we doing this again?” Pap asked.
“To make sure we know where we are, so if we ever get lost we know the area.” I replied. Soon after we ran into a crossroads, looking down one way I saw nothing but forest, but when I turned the other way I saw a object in the distance. The object got closer and was then joined by the sounds of a engine and before you know it, a van bearing Xcom markings was in our sight. We stood our ground as it drove by, but noticing who we were, or thought we were.
“Hey, ain't them those skeletons who work for Xcom?” The driver asked slowing down.
“Yeah it is… they look more scary than normal.” The passenger noted.
“It don’t matter, we should get them!” A third voice boomed from inside the van and suddenly the van stopped and the back doors where booted open. Before long we were being surrounded. Me and Pap exchanged looks, and nodded in unison. I got my psychokinesis ready and felt my eye begin to burn. Papyrus summoned a bone attack to my left and my personal fight music, M.E.G.A.L.O.V.A.N.I.A filled the air.

Chapter 2: Unexpected Meetup
Fell Pap launched the first attack, impaling a couple of the soldiers and pinning one to a tree. I summoned one of my Gaster Blasters and fired at the van, causing it to blow up. Just as I thought it was that easy, another Xcom van rolled up. We stood our ground for hours but they just kept coming at a seemly endless rate.
“How many of these stupid humans are there?” Fell Pap shouted over the gunfire. I stood among the fighting, letting my blasters do most of the work. I looked around for any kind of opening and then I found it, behind the Xcom forces was a break in the trees. I pointed it out to Fell Pap and we made a plan. I launched a massive bone barrage at the Xcom forces, causing some confusion. I quickly teleported behind them and had my blasters cover Fell Pap as he made his way over. As he entered the forest, he laid a trap down for anyone who would follow us.
*“Alright, we should try and lose them.” I tried catching my breath. That trap would not last forever.
“Sir, they went through here! We can just foll- AGH!” We heard one of them hit the trap.
“IDOUTS! All of you, find a way around, we can cut them off on the other side.” Another voice boomed and I figured we don’t have much time. We just started running, I teleported ahead to make sure we are clear, bit I could still hear the Xcom forces running along the outside edge. I saw Fell Pap run up behind me but suddenly I heard a loud BANG and a rocket of some sort whizzed past me, blowing up a tree. Then Xcom bursted out of the trees to my left, and started surrounding me. Thankfully Fell Pap was right there and he launched a bone attack, clearing some of them out. One of the bones flew past and landed somewhere behind me and I heard a surprised gasp. Must be a poor civilian out on a walk or something. But as I was trying to clear the rest of the hostile forces out, I heard a familiar voice from the direction of the gasp.
“Sans? It that you?” The voice asked. I ran in the direction of the voice, jumped over a box and was face to face with Kayla Taylor, the ex-Xcom ranger.
*“Oh, hey Kayla… what’s up?” I ask sarcastically. Suddenly, Fell Pap got knocked back by a grenade blast but he recovered, mumbling something about annoying humans as he gets into cover behind a log. Kayla got up and took cover beside me, her camo gene mods kicking in.
“Yeah hi... Anyway what’s going on here?” Kayla asked, getting her sword ready.
*“Oh, just another day ya know. Me and Fell Pap were wandering around then we ran into a Xcom squad. And now we are here.” I replied. I ended up standing on top of the box and sending my blasters to do their thing. *“Anyway, how’s your day been going?” I shouted over the sound of blasters and gunfire.
“Well, just the normal. I was relaxing, until you guys showed up.” Kayla replied then ran out,  stabbing a couple of the soldiers.
*“Eh, we are about the same. We were trying to take note of the area around the Blacksite then we meet some friends.” I chuckled  bit. I could see Fell Pap summoning traps for the hostile reinforcements to run into.
“Ok, so now what?” Kayla asked, jumping behind a tree and letting her camo kick in.
“Just thin them out, I guess. They will run outta manpower and run away… hopefully.” I replied, launching more bone attacks. The battle went for a couple more hours, and I was starting to get tired.

Chapter 3: Kayla Gets Captured… Again…
After a few hours, Kayla tried using her camo to flank around the back. She managed to get around and cut a couple of them down, but as both Fell Pap and I were busy, a couple of soldiers got behind her. I tried to redirect my blaster to help her, but both me and my brother got hit by a flashbang. I heard shouting and I recovered just in time to see the Skyranger trying to leave. I finally got control over one of my blasters again and fired it at the transport, hitting an engine. The thing went down a few meters out and I started rushing the area.
*“Come on, Pap! We gotta get to the crash site!” I shouted. Pap finished launching another bone attack and followed me, the Xcom forces began retreating to whatever hole they came from. We reached the site, and bodies were scattered but their was no sign on Kayla. *“Blast! Where'd she go?” I asked no nothing inpatulcar.
“Well, she’s clearly not here.” Fell Pap yawned.
*“I can see that… just have a look around the area, make sure she’s not hiding anywhere.” I started looking around, but Kayla is nowhere to be seen.
“Yeah, she’s not here.” Fell Pap said, but I was not done yet.
*“AGH! Think… if she was taken by Xcom, then maybe she was taken to the HQ, right?” I mumbled to myself.
“Oh, you're thinking, that’s what that smell is.” Fell Pap started walking back to the Blacksite.
*“NOT THE TIME, PAPYRUS!” I shouted. *“Ok, maybe we can go and ask Shields, he may know where they took her.” I added, grabbing Fell Pap by his scarf.
“Finally, can we go back now?” Fell Pap yawned again, I just rolled my eyes and teleported us back to the Blacksite were I ran in to meet Shields and the Keeper/Caller combo to try and come up with a plan.

Chapter 4: Rescue Plan
As I charged into the blacksite, I almost tripped on a supply crate. I thought I was gonna have to go out and find everyone, but Shields and the Keeper/Caller combo was standing in the center, talking about whatever.
*“Hey… guys… we… have… a.. Problem…” I huffed between breaths. I turned around to notice the Fell Pap just screwed off somewhere.
“Oh, hey Fell… what’s up?” Shields asked, lowering his mag rifle.
“Ugh… hello?” Keeper said with confusion.
*“Yeah hi, what's up, wherever! Anyway, you guys know that Kayla chick right? Ex-Xcom, crazy sword wielding human? Well, she has just been captured by Xcom forces!” I explained.
“WHAT!?!?!?!?!” Shields shouted, almost dropping his rifle.
“Finally, some good news!” Caller shouted, doing a celebration spin. All three of us just stared at her, confused.
*“Ugggh…. Ok… well I was thinking that you guys may want to save her or something.” I asked eyeing Caller.
“Absolutely!” Shields replied, suddenly he made a soul splitting stare at Keeper.
“Why are you looking at me like that!? I’m agreeing with you!” Keaper snaped, suddently Shields noticed.
“Oh… crap sorry I got confused… you both look the same to be ok?” Shields shrugged and winked at Keeper.
   “Damnit Shields…” Keaper sighed.
*“Anyway, I was hoping one of yous would know where they took her.” I continued. Shields started walking in circles.
“Ok, so if they took her, then they probably took her to Jet, in his HQ… so that must be where she is!” It was almost like a light bulb was going off in Shields’s head. Suddenly M.E.G.A.L.O.V.A.N.I.A started faintly playing, and I noticed it was my phone going off. I brought it out and noticed it was Fell Pap.
*“Yeah? What’s up Papyrus?” I answered the phone.
“Ok… so apparently Classic Sans and Papyrus has agreed to help save that ranger. We are going to the river, and I guess we will meet you there or something.” Fell Pap explained. I hung up and turned towards the others.
*“Ok, so it is steelted. Fell Pap just said that the Classic skelebros are going to meet us at the river..” I explained.
“HA! HA! HA! You think I wanna help you save that Xcom trash? Whatever, have fun morons.” Caller spat as she started making her way to her quarters. Shields and Keeper were already out the gate, but before Caller made into her quarters, I used my psychokinesis to shut the door on her before she made it, causing her to float into it eye first. Keeper noticed and just laughed.
“Alright, let’s just go.” Keeper laughed as I joined him and Shields.
*“Why do we have to walk there? Gather around.” The two stood next to me as I teleported us to the river where Fell Pap and the Classic skeletons were already waiting. Now we can finally make a official plan.

Chapter 5: Cat Fight
“Alright, myself, Keeper, and Fell Sans will assault the HQ as the rest of you hold the line here.” Shields explained as Keeper woke up.
“Huh? What am I supposed to do?” Keeper asked
“I just said that you are coming with me and Fell Sans to get Kayla.” Shields replied, already approaching the HQ. Keeper and I caught up and I teleported ahead to scout out the first building. I landed on top of the roof and caned around.
*“Nothing up here.” I reported over radio. Suddenly I heard doors slid open, but I could not see where it came from.
“Whoa, hold up guys, Spark units heading out the left side door, hold fire until they get closer.” Shields reported as I got behind a air conditioning box. “Closer… closer… NOW!” Shields shouted as I head him blast one Spark units to bits. I jumped on top of the AC unit to get an angle on them. I quickly summoned a Gaster Blaster and melted two of the robots. Then I saw Keeper fire a eye-lazer to finish off the last one.
“Ok.. now let’s see if they hea-” Keeper started but was cut off by the alarm echoing throughout the base.
“Yeah, they heard that.” Shields mumbles as dozens of Xcom soldiers swarmed us. Suddenly we were stuck it a deadlocked fight. Their was lazers, gunfire, and grenades flying everywhere and Xcom soldiers were dropping all around us, but they just kept coming. In the middle of the chaos, I got an idea.
*“Hey! I’m gonna teleport inside the base and try to find Kayla, you guys hold the line!” I shouted.
“Good enough, just do it fast!” Shields replied, throwing a grenade. From outta nowhere, Classic Papyrus came running halfway up the path we took.
“You guys done up there? Some of these guards are starting to wake up back here!” He shouted.
“We just gotta wait for Fell Sans to get Kayla!” Keeper shouted back, and with that I took my leave into the base.
*“I’ll be right back!” I winked at everyone and one flash of light later, I was in the base down some hallway. I saw a group of Xcom soldier dash past the end like a blur. I went to the end and looked around, making sure I was clear. I started making my way down the rooms and heard voices coming from one.
“Supper, eat it fast.” One gruff voice boomed.
“I aint eating that crap, probably poisoned.” I heard a familiar voice snapback and I already knew that’s good old Kayla. I ran up to the door and managed to sneak into a unlit corner and sit in the shadows to wait for a opportunity. Suddenly, as the guard got close to the cell, Kayla reached through the bars, grabbing the guard by the neck and bashing his head multiple times until he flopped over unconscious. Soon after, Jet came walking in.
“Sorry, he was really bothering me… so what’s up?” Kayla asked sarcastically.
“Well, besides the fact you just knocked one of my heavies out cold, not much.” Jet rolled his eyes.
“Oh, aint you funny? You know, you can stop the tough guy act, I can see right through it.” Kayla paced around her cell.
“Yeah, whatever.” Jet turned around and mumbled something to someone outside. Soon a couple people came out to carry the sleeping guard away. Then someone new came in, some sorta specialist looking chick. The new guard took the keys from the old guard and clipped it to her belt. Kayla kept a solid death glare at the new guard, sliding her finger across her neck, as to foreshadow her death. As the two were distracted by their stare off, I used my power to lift the keys from the guard's belt and slowly float them over to Kayla. Kayla noticed last second what was happening and grabbed the keys mid air, unlocked the cell, jumped out and uppercutted the guard in the jaw. The guard regained her balance and went for a swing, but Kayla reacted quickly, blocking it with her forehead and kicking her in the side. The guard managed to knee Kayla in the gut and push her away. Both recovered but before Kayla could make another move, the guard drew a handgun from her belt. I figured it was time for me to step in. I activated my powers, the light from my eye lighting the rest of the room. I sent the guard flying across the room leaving a crack in the wall. Before she could react, I grabbed the guard by her very soul I slowly closed my hand, destroying her from the inside out and reducing her to a pile of ash.  Kayla grabbed the handgun from the ash pile and at first looked confused, then nodded at me.
“Let’s get outta here!” Kayla caught her breath.
*“With pleasure!” I replied, grabbed Kayla by the shoulder and  I teleported us back outside in the middle of the group.

Chapter 6: Magic Happens
When we got back, everyone was either wandering around or sleeping. Shields nearly jumped outta his armor because was mid nap.
“AGH! Oh, glad you made it out safely Kayla.” Shields got up and somehow he managed to lose his helmet.
“Uggggh… did you ALL come down here to save me?” Kayla asked, confused.
“Why not? Nyeh heh heh heh!” Classic Papyrus laughed.
“I just was not expecting it.” Kayla replied.
“We also did not want Shields complaining about it, either.” Classic Papyrus added, giving Shields a look.
“What’s that supposed to mean?” Kayla snaped.
“Come on, we all know how we gets.” Classic Papyrus replied as Shields rolled his eyes.
“Well, I was worried about you, but not in a totally messed up kida way. Regardless, I am happy our rescue was successful!” Shields finally stepped in.
*“Well Kayla, need a lift anywhere or you good?” I asked.
“I stole one of Xcom’s APCs, I’ll drive us home! Nyeh heh heh heh heh heh!!” Classic Pap grew an evil grin, but I tried to stop him. He resisted, but I ended it by grabbing him by the scarf and teleporting us all just outside the main gates of the Blacksite.
*“By Asgore, that was close…” I sighed.
“Well Kayla, how you feeling?” Shields asked and I swore I saw him blush a bit.
“Eh, I’m fine I guess. I just did not expect you guys to come rescue me.” Kayla replied, sounding grateful.
“What can I say, I was worried ya know…” Shields kicked the dirt.
*“Would you two just kiss already?” I mumbled under my breath. Keeper managed to hear me and did a cheeky little psi inspiration on Shields from under his shell. Shields took a step in and we all just watched as he took Kayla by the arm, spun her around and went in for a kiss. I could tell that Kayla was gonna slap him, but she let it happen. One of my blasters fired into the sky and the beam blew up in a bunch of sparks, like fireworks. Soon after they both took a step back.
“Ugh… well… that just happened…” Shields mumbled. I could hear Fell Pap faceplam.
“Oh… I ugh.. The problem is… ugh… I should go…” Kayla turned around and ran off into the woods. We all just stood there awkwardly.
*“Well, I thought that was going well… until that happened…” I mumbled.
   “Same here…” Keaper added.
*“Well, look at the time… we should go…” I grabbed Fell Pap’s arm and dragged him into the Blacksite, whatever just happened, it was not my problem to deal with.
