They told her she can't expect the world to do whatever she pleases. But she knew better.
--- Gosh, I've definitely outdone myself. ;v; The vision-execution ratio is about 90%, and that is just the best feeling ever. It happens so rarely tho. ;a; I guess I should also mention that this piece probably wouldn't happen at all (or at least would not be as pretty) without the awesome support I'm getting on Patreon!
A GIGANTIC THANK YOU TO ALL PATRONS OMG SO DAMN LUCKY TO HAVE YOU THIS NEW WORKSTATION IS MAGIC
This piece has: - around 250,000 individual hairs and grass blades - three densely-tessellated and displaced objects (one of which is insanely tessellated) - a particularly computationally-demanding shader on the majority of the image (ocean)
Took 11 GB of RAM at rendertime, and rendered for 2 hours, 14 minutes, 28 seconds.
Old workstation would nope out as soon as it tried loading that into memory, because 8 GB of ram, only 4-5 of which was available for rendering. And it would take about 4 hours to render. And it wouldn't handle this kind of hair/grass at all, so that would look much worse too. Progress is soooo goooood.
