“Shads!”
Shadow sighed, standing from his desk chair, and exiting his office. He walked into the living room where the blue hedgehog was residing. He shouldn’t be so upset thought, seeing as his mate was sick and needed to be taken care of.
Sonic looked worse for wear, his blue quills were unkept and his fur sticking up at random. There were dark lines under his eyes, the usually shining emeralds, dull and tired looking. He was wearing a thick red sweater and a pale blue blanket was wrapped around his shoulders. He gave a small sneeze and pulled the blanket around himself tighter.
“What is it, hedgehog?” Sonic’s ears perked up at the sound of his boyfriend’s voice. He gave him a tired smile.
“It’s kinda cold in here. Can you get me another blanket?” His voice was a bit nasality from his cold.
Shadow went into the hall closet and pulled out a thicker blanket. He warped the cloth around his mate. “That better?” Sonic nodded, snuggling deep into the plush blanket. “Do you need anything else?” Sonic thought for a moment.
“Could you make me a cup of tea?”
“Sure.” The dark hedgehog gave his mate a kiss on the forehead before moving into the kitchen. He filled the kettle with water before setting it on the stove, letting it boil. While he was waiting, he pulled out two mugs and tea bags. He placed the bags in the mugs and waited a bit.
The kettle started whistling, signaling that it was done. Shadow poured the hot water into both of the mugs. He added sugar and milk to Sonic’s tea and placed the mug on a small plate with some crackers. He carried the streaming mugs into the living room, handing Sonic his.
“Thank you.” The blue hero took a sip, enjoying the pleasurable feeling of it warming up his insides.
“Just call if you need me.” Shadow said, while giving Sonic a peck on the cheek. He went back into the office to continue working on his computer. He was doing a follow up report for the Commander, again. He sighed as he got back to work.
Sonic sat back on the couch with his tea and continued watching t.v. There wasn’t anything interesting going on and the tea was making him sleepy. He was having a tough time keeping his eyes open. He managed to finish his drink and set the mug on the coffee table before he dozed off completely.
While the blue hedgie was half way between dreamland and reality, his phone pinged, waking him up. He picked it up and squinted at it, the bright light hurting his eyes. He got a text from Amy, she was asking him how he was doing. They texted each other back and forth, with Amy mentioning she wished she could come over.
A little while after, Shadow stood up from his desk with a stretch. He gave a small yawn in the process. He decided to go into the living room to check on Sonic, who had fallen asleep and was snoring softly. Shadow gave a hint of a smile.
“He’ll probably be hungry when he wakes up...” The dark hedgehog mused to himself. He entered the kitchen to start making some soup. He tried to be as quiet as possible while doing do, not wanting to wake up his mate.
Sonic woke up to a delicious smell and his stomach growling at him. He watched as Shadow came from the kitchen, holding a streaming bowl. He sat up and moved over to give him some room on the couch. When Shadow sat down, he realized that bowl was filled with chicken soup.
“You made me soup?” Sonic said in the smallest bit of disbelief, seeing as Shadow doesn’t cook, like ever. Sonic was the one that made all their meals, unless they ordered take out.
“I may not cook like you do, but it’s not hard to make soup.” Sonic gave him a questioning stare. He stared back expressionless.
There was a long pause before Sonic said with a small grin, “You got it from a can, didn’t you?”
“Shut up…” The dark hedgehog grumbled. He stuck a spoon into the soup and scooped some up, holding it up to Sonic’s mouth. “Here.”
The blue hero accepted the spoon. “I can feed myself, Shads. I’m sick, not handicap.”
“I know, but I want to...” Shadow said the last part a bit quieter, but Sonic still heard him.
“Awe, Shads, you’re so sweet.” The blue hero snickered.
“Shut up…”
After the soup was finished, Sonic held open his blankets, wanting Shadow to snuggle him. Thankfully he got the message and pulled the blue hedgehog closer to him, wrapping his arms around his waist. Sonic nuzzled his face into Shadow’s soft chest fur.
“Mmm~ You feel so much better than these blankets.” The sick hedgie mumbled. He started purring when he felt Shadow stroking his quills. They sat in a comfortable silence for a while.
“You feel any better?” He tilted Sonic’s head up to look at him properly. His eyes were no longer drowsy looking and he had gained some color to his face.
“Yeah a lot actually.”
“Good.”
Shadow pressed his lips against his mate’s, deepening the kiss by pulling him closer. He slipped his tongue inside of Sonic’s mouth, surprising him a bit. He wasn’t worried about getting sick, as the Ultimate Lifeform, he was immune to most sicknesses and diseases.
They pulled away from each other. Sonic’s cheeks were bright red.
“Shadow…”
“How about we watch a movie?” Shadow suggest, completely ignoring his mate’s pout.
“Whatever, you jerk face.” Sonic huffed, crossing his arms.
Midway into the movie, they stopped paying attention to it, seeing as Shadow thought it was more fun mess with his boyfriend.
“Shads, c-cut it out.” Sonic shuddered, trying to push the dark hedgehog away, though unsuccessful, seeing as even if he was at full strength, he still wouldn’t be able to…
Shadow continued to kiss and nip at his neck, moving downwards. Hearing Sonic gasp when he started playing with his chest. He leaned up to look at Sonic’s face, which was bad idea.
“Achoo!!”
Sonic sneezed, right in his face.
Shadow stared wide eyes for a moment, before taking a tissue from the nearby box and wiping his face.
“Gross…”
“Sorry.” Sonic said, smiling in embarrassment.
“Guess I kind of deserved that, huh?”
Sonic giggled a bit. “Maybe..”
