The sound of the breaking of bones and the dripping of blood could be heard all across the arena as the last of the five Basilisks was slain by the long-sword wielded by the young, blonde human standing in the center where all could see him. The panting of his breath could almost be heard over the lone clapping of the only being that was at the spectators seating, as though as if the whole thing was for this single individuals entertainment; and it very much was.
"Very good! You've slain all the beasts that I set out for you to fight in me arena!" The being said in a calm and relaxed voice as the boy positioned himself out of his combat stance so as to stand straight and look upon the beings face.
"Yes I have! Now, just as you have promised give me my reward and send me back home!" The blonde boy yelled as he wiped the sweat and blond from his brow.
Sighing and waving his hand, "Very well! Elymas, give the mortal his prize and send him on his way!"
Then as instructed I bow my head and did as I was told giving the boy his so called prize and sending him back to the realm from once he came. Once all was said and done I went to the dinning hall were my master was there eating his usual meal.
As I entered the fresh smell of grilled meat and cooked vegetables hit me old, wrinkled nosed. Spread across the whole twenty foot long table sat many a meal any wealthy mortal from any realm would simply drool over. There were roasted pigs, turkey's, goats, lizards, and even fish. Followed by fresh cooked potato's cover with gravy and goats cheese, spiced grilled corn on the cob, sweeten apple slices, and fresh spicy baked beans. All of this laid out upon the long dinning table and near one of the ends of the table sat Lord Lou Goul, picking and eating the food that laid on the table; at the time I believed out of hunger, but that would be later proven wrong.
"I take it everything seems to be to your liking, sire?" I stated as I walked towards him.
"Mph, yes the food is wonderful, but I still seem to have a bad taste in my mouth." Lou Goul stated in a somber tone.
"Then perhaps setting a challenge to a village of a certain realm may be in order?" I asked raising a wrinkly eye-brow.
"Hmmm, No I don't think so. Besides it will just cause me stress later on and that fight in that arena did nothing to fix that. It only left me bored." Lou Goul stated while pick his two large tusks with the rib bone of a pig.
"Then simply a more larger tournament is in order! I could send a message to all the kingdoms of your domain to...." I began to announce just until I was interrupted by Lord Lou Goul raising his talons up in the air.
"There will be no need of that, since I am sure the kingdoms are plenty busy at the moment as they usually are this time of year." He said moving his talon hand back down to grab a roasted plum.
"Then perhaps a festival could be in order? Give plenty of time for the kingdoms and you yourself to relax and celebrate your....." I proclaimed just until I was interrupted again; but this time with a cough.
"And what then, they'll cheer my name, sing songs of my glory, or better yet worship me as though I was some kind of god! Well then that would sound fun, but then again I'm no god am I!?" Lou Goul shouted with a bit of a scorn in his voice.
"No I am afraid not sire." I said bowing my head in shame for what I had said.
"Now don't get me wrong I would like to have a festival, but as soon as someone says that I am like some kind of all powerful being that's when things could get ugly." Lou Goul said before taking a bite out of the roasted plum in his hand.
"But are you not a powerful being Sire? One out of four I believe, and one of the two that have to do with darkness. If there are some beings out there most likely more powerful then you, then why have they not shown themselves?" I asked known all too well that the answer to that question would very well be the same.
"I am certain that they or possibly one being in particular has a reason, but it may be best to not draw attention that may cause trouble for me." He said finishing his roasted plum as I nodded in agreement.
"Regardless, I think I really should go back to the subject at hand." I went on, so as to change the subject back to the original main focus.
"That being what, exactly?" Lou Goul said picking up a bowl full of roasted peach slices.
I simply shook me head and sighed before saying, "The issue of your boredom, sire? Though frankly I seem to be quite curious as to why; did the display of vigor that the boy in the arena today not entertain you enough?" I asked wondering why Lord Goul was truly bored.
"That's just it Elymas, it's just that the fights and the fighters at the arena are the same old thing. Some of the fighters die some of them live, some of them struggle and keep fighting on, and others just give up and die. It is always the same thing and it is getting old real fast." He said right before finishing his bowl of peach slices and went to leaning his head down over the top railing of his chair; where his long rabbit like ears flopped down towards the floor.
"Then I suppose I should close the arena just like the labyrinth you grew bored with as well." I sighed shaking my head as my wrinkled blue ears laid back.
"Labyrinth? I don't remember having a labyrinth." Lou Goul said stroking his goat beard.
"Frankly I don't blame you, you grew bored of it just you are right now with the arena. Though I guess you soon might forget about that to some day." I said with a bit of dread in my voice.
"Hang on! I wouldn't count you too short, because I believe you just gave me something to cure me of my boredom." Lou Goul said straightening in his chair.
"Oh, and what what exactly would that be sire?" I asked knowing all to well what it was, but chances were they might not be pretty for who or whatever may fall prey to Lord Lou Goul's idea of entertainment.
