I experimented. This was the result - I couldn't be happier!

This is a ribbonized version of my sona, Sledge (without his ears). I normally only do these traditionally - but I gave it a shot digitally, aaaaaaaaaaand after 3x the amount of time spent on it I came out with this! I'm gonna go out on a limb and say it was totally worth it!
