Thank you for this nice comment! X3 I have to say I am not the artist xp (the artist is Luca, truly a very good one). But I am happy when others appreciate the concepts/sequence of actions-events because I define them for every comic i commissioned ^^ Concerning the characters, the main male tomcat is my character but each artist gave a bit different interpretation of the original concept. While Bastet has been a mix of ideas from me and artist. Cameo characters in previous pages are all of respective owners x3

there is an issue with this that twitches me a bit, i don't know if you quite grasp the concept of the term 'dust in the wind' the term as its most often been used means to be unimportant, forgotten, or left behind [abandoned] as in 'our time together is as dust in the wind' meaning it was not important tot he speaker yet clearly despite having to leave him behind cause of there place in different realms of existence, she does care about him in some way and if he knew she was real he would most certainly care for her, doesnt seem like a jerky sort this one. so while on the one hand its use is sorta right, the tone the phrase has does not match whats going on...sorry if this makes no sense its just my understanding and feeling showing thru.

Her line and the meaning of it it's more... literal. She is a goddess, and not bond to mortal life, everyone she may interact with is destined to be just... a memory, dust in the wind. It is sad, yet it's more like stressing a fact: a poetic way to stress their difference as mortal/immortal beings. However I want to point out the three dots of suspension meaing her line is not yet over xd
There is one more page planned, that will include a completation of her line. However I think many could be surprised by the twist of the ending and think it could be unexpected. I can only say there is a purpose for all this, and while Bastet "care" for him: it's the kind of love she could dispense on EVERY feline. But as I said, the whole point of their meeting has an extra purpose and it will be discovered in the final page, Bastet is stating just that Khaldun will be not alive when... (can't say it, spoiler xp). Her smiling is not meant as a mockery but ... sorta a reassuring smile: like saying "Don't worry boy, you will be long dead... but something of important/good will happens". It's bittersweet and possibly a bit hard, but... she's a goddess and while loving her subjects/sons, she also must see a larger point-of-view.
Another detail that could not be fully explained but I enjoy thinking... Khaldun is enchanted/in-love/caring for her... like EVERY other kind of feline could be. She is literally the mother of all felines, so it could be quite impossible to not feels in that way. Again... it's a bit bittersweet, but I think it's a nice view ^^
On a personal level, Khaldun is a quite a womanizer lonely guy who never stay alongside a she-cat he mated. Sorta realistic behavior lets say, I originally conceived him like a "Felidae" original character xd

i suppose even in the best of all posible situations even after hes gone and becomes a soul, a spirit himself the gap in age between them would still prevent them from having a lasting relationship even though he would then technicly be eternal himself, souls do not age or die after all...but as said even with that, shes been alive since the begining...hes only got at best when he dies what....if the world is realistic to cat lifespans 20 years if he lived the maximum expectant life span though probably closer to 15...no it wouldnt work at all even if he was more the lionish type and stuck with his mates...beter for him to find a mortal female thats more to his taste...the life of a goddess is truely a lonely one, alas...still dat milf tail yo...

Oh well.. to be honest I never figured much about the afterlife of him ('cause myself.. I don't believe it much xd). If I have to think about it... an afterlife for this setting... well. Bastet is a busy goddess and could have things to handle, and Khaldun could probably just brag about it eternally with other feline souls xD
Yep it is lonely, the life of her, buuuuut. Not so-much lonely if she can summoun believers at her own pleasure and joy xd Let's say (as i think some see it) her ways and motivations can be a bit beyond the mortal's comprehension and I think she's quite content of her place in the universe especially when surrounded by her servants xd

i don't know if there is an afterlife or not, i hope there is but like everybody else i wont know till my time comes...what will be before me on that day of days or that night of nights, will all become void and my thoughts and mind become so much well dust int he wind *snicker* or will i stand before saint peter to be judged for my sins, or will instead i stand before anubis...watching my heart be weighed against the feather...or even shall i be cast into hades and be judged there, to either wander the river stix for all time, or be granted entry into the elysian gardens....none can know the answers to these things before there time....i can hope...but i can never truely know.

Just to say I can't exactly say if i can state Bastet as "my" goddess lol. I mean... no idea what artists do with the more widespread pics about Anubi, each of them claim their interpretation as their own character? After alll more or less they tends to be similar.
