Andi was caught between a wall and the Govadian forces sent to capture him. He only had a sword and a sickle and chain. But with so many enemies coming at him at once there was no chance of winning. Andi did not know any magic. And changing to Sunder was out of the question from his extreme fatigue. The only thing he had left was a rune. Since the one rune he knew did not require mana, he quickly used it without knowing the rune's cost. Once activated he could use a powerful spell that would help him escape, but at the cost of his left eye.
