Before Marc and Melissa ever met it happened a few weeks after Marc met Nate, an alien known as a Raptorgon came to Earth to send in his armies to use Earth as a battle station against a Kranng named Xemos. At the cost of billion lives Marc tries to stop him no matter what, later another alien came to Earth to stop the Raptorgon, a salamandrian name Mirasaa'' aka Melissa. When Marc was on the ground Melissa came to stop him but she was not a skilled fighter and when the Raptorgon was about to kill her Marc came in and saved her. She couldn't make out what saved or who this person was but all she can remember was the backside and his name.
