So I’m not sure why exactly, but I had the thought that I’m pretty sure Wizardmon has never actually seen Gatomon in any of her higher forms. At first that made me slightly sad, but then I realized if he’d lived, it’s not like he's going to reach Ultimate stage before she does, meaning he’d have to deal with THIS on a regular basis.
So at least he got to avoid that by dying.
