Well... if Shadow is still similar to the canon aside from being genderbent, she is the Ultimate Life Form, and was created to cure NIDS. So I think that Shadow would actually be safe unprotected (her body would destroy the virus), and Sonic just isn't thinking about that. IF that's the case XD It's been a while since I read the fic so I could be wrong.

I do get why Sonic would want to be intimate with Shadow at least once before his passing and I know Shadow would absolutely grant him that wish, but is it really that safe? I mean for both of them? Sonic looks a little better now, but can he handle strenuous activities like this? And is this Shadow close to her canon counterpart? Or in other words, still a cure? I know you said she wasn't immortal.

I'm kinda trying to remake chapter one and four because the relationship I have for Sonic and Shadow has changed and so I need to change the chapters I stated in order for chapter eight to really hit with the feelings.
Sonic can still handle drastic movements like that, remember what Shadow said, any type if virus/illness takes a longer time to take effect on Shadow or Sonic since their immune systems are boosted by the Chaos energy they have.
Although Shadow isn't immortal anymore, her immune system is still going strong, her regenerative abilities are the thing that has been modified.
