@TenTen: Calling SEGA of Japan "Official SEGA" is a ridiculous misnomer. SEGA of America existed before SEGA of Japan, since SEGA started as an American company originally founded by SEGA of America's first C.E.O David Rosen prior to Project Needlemouse evolving into Sonic the Hedgehog (back when Alex Kidd was the company's mascot, much like Ness was for storied rival Nintendo before Super Mario [post-Donkey Kong Jump Man renamed, with the plumber - whom Nintendo's corporate execs currently claim isn't a plumber anymore despite providing no explanation to this decision, other than the fact that plumbing is an unflattering occupation, yet somebody's got to do it, anyway - seeing his original redheaded girlfriend Pauline getting replaced by Mushroom Kingdom heiress Princess Peach Toadstool, not counting those instances when her dragon abductor King Bowser Koopa ensures she's "in another castle", which then feeds into the question as to just exactly from whence the Koopa Kid underlings & younger lookalike son Bowser Jr. had suddenly sprung forth from, since there's no female equivalent of his kind for him to be with - that is, unless the fairly recent fanon notion of him donning Princess Peach's royal crown to transform from male King Bowser Koopa into female Queen Bowsette Koopa is actually strangely somehow genuine canon to the whole "kidnapping the Princess to place her various subject under subjugated siege, thus beginning the hostile takeover of the entire Overworld, from native Mushroom Kingdom to Dino Land's Yoshi Island & beyond" plot the bulky lizard with a spiky turtle shell on his back came up with that's been constantly disrupted by the displayed Mario Brothers from Brooklyn, New York directly thwarting his plans - which then implies that the main baddie of the Super Mario videogames has had direct bestiality intercourse with his Mushroom Kingdom heiress captive to sire the Koopa Kids as well as Bowser Jr.] & Link from Legend of Zelda [who also follows the clichéd "hero rescues the Princess" trope, although his fashion choices were clearly patterned after Peter Pan, meanwhile the sprite that accompanies him is basically Hyrule's answer to Tinker Belle] replaced Ness whilst Sonic replaced Alex Kidd). Both of Sonic's definitive creators (Sonic's character designer & personality developer N. Oshima, in conjunction with lead programmer Yuji Naka, who input the proper code for Sonic's movements in-game) have individually confirmed in 2010 Facebook interviews that "Sonic was made in the spirit of the United States" & that (This being before they left the company due to "Creative Differences" with new management comprised of tenured Japanese members who were resentful of SEGA of America's success & wanted to stick it to those Americans after getting browbeat by Nakasama-San, who kept asking of them, "Now, why can't you make Sonic as popular as the Americans did?") "Here at SEGA, Sonic is viewed internally as a Western property." Even in terms of the console debuts, the American SEGA Genesis was put into stores a full month before the overseas European & Asian countries - including Japan - received their renamed SEGA Mega Drive consoles. Along with this, after the release of Sonic 1, Sonic 2 (which introduced kitsune Miles "Tails' Prower as Sonic's kid sidekick/adopted little brother; He didn't start out as a brilliant child prodigy, however, he instead grew into this role, with handyman "Boomer" Rotor Walrus - who was himself based on the "tiny animal" known as Rocky, with Joe Sushi as his European counterpart from Fleetway's Stay Sonic comic - serving as his mentor, at least according to the quintessentially American 1993 to 2017 Archie Sonic comics continuity) on through to Sonic & Knuckles were all developed stateside by Yuji Naka & those working beneath them in collaboration with the SEGA Technical Institute, with these games all coming out right alongside those games that deliberately took aspects f

....rom the DiC cartoons (Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine replicating the art style of AoStH on its box art cover, Sonic 'SatAM' season 2 episode "Game Guy" clearly inspiring the creation of Sonic Spinball [which featured prototype versions of Princess Sally, Bunnie Rabbot, "Boomer" Rotor Walrus and Sonic's Roboticized dog Muttski as special guest cameo characters rescued on a special stage], the Sonic 'SatAM' design of Dr. Robotnik being found within the code of a SEGASonic arcade cabinet, the discovered leaked footage available from the aborted Sonic-16 [the unreleased Sonic game set in the Sonic 'SatAM'/Archie Sonic comic's universe] & documented ideas from the scrapped Sonic Mars/Sonic Xtreme that were initially meant to include the Freedom Fighters as either NPC allies or else, having them as playable characters alongside Sonic, Tails & a reformed Knuckles...all before Amy Rose was introduced to the American localization of the Sonic brand), except that with SEGA of Japan wresting control of the franchise away from SEGA of America by 1998 - considering how the Japanese developer's festering resentment towards their American branch hit its first peak by 1995 - they were dead set on internalizing the entire brand worldwide (thereby relegating Sonic's original American friends & his home world of Mobius [in accordance with the Archie Sonic comics, Mobius is just Earth set in a distant future populated by sapient anthropomorphic animals who've defeated conventional humanity known as Overlanders in an event known as The Great War, thanks to mad genius scientist Jullian/Ovi Knitobor - the future Dr. Jullian/Ivo Robotnik - betraying his own kind to assist the Kingdom of Acorn to lay claim to what would be Mobius' capital city Mobotropolis, until revealing his true colors by staging a coup to takeover Mobius & subsequently remake it as he saw fit, sadly transforming Mobotropolis into his primary base of operations, Robotropolis, otherwise referred to as Scrap Brain Zone in the SEGA Genesis videogames, akin to how the purple & yellow swirling vortex that occasionally traps Sonic from his home world at times being equally known as The Void on Sonic 'SatAM' per the episode bearing its name & The Zone of Silence within the Archie Sonic comics, just like how the Floating Island that Sonic & Sally discovered the Time Stones on in "Blast To The Past pts. 1 & 2" is actually Angel Island, the exact same island on which Knuckles the Echidna resides, proudly protecting the immensely powerful Chaos Emeralds in secret seemingly until the events of Sonic 3, although the "Doomsday Project" finale for Sonic 'SatAM' also renames another likely broken Chaos Emerald to the Deep Power Stones, but the powerful MacGuffin plot device becomes whole again once Sonic & Sally clasp their joined hands over the split halves of the pre-gem rock, with the Mobian Power Couple using the resulting untapped power to gain unparalleled speed & quickly reverse the polarity of Dr. Robotnik's Doomsday machine, with the strong pull sucking both the Doomsday machine itself as well as a fleeing Dr. Robotnik straight into The Void/The Zone of Silence to join rightful ruler of Mobius King Maximillian "Max" Acorn/Sally's father & the evil wizard that even Dr. Robotnik fears, Ixis Naugus, the latter of whom Dr. Robotnik's steadily defiant nephew Snively opts to free from the interdimensional portal in the cliffhanger ending to the Saturday Morning cult classic series] exclusively to the Archie Sonic comics that were cancelled amid controversy in 2017), even though targeting the Western market, particularly the American consumer, was the impetus behind Sonic's very creation in the first place!
