Slightly related.
In the now-ended British sitcom (or Britcom) LAST OF THE SUMMER WINE, each episode of the later seasons started with Nora Batty (no kidding, that was her name !)being pestered by her neighbor,the crude Compo Semmonite. He would do anything from silly offers (rent me for the day !) to kissing her through trickery. When the actor (Bill Owen) died , his role as pesterer was taken over by Alvin Smedley, who moved into the rooms.
The series was filmed in the Lake District,in the town of Holmfirth near Huddersfield (Nobody ever voluntarily goes to Huddersfield !)

Now here's the point.
Critics have theorized that tho loud in complaining about Compo's boorish behaivor, she secretly appreciated the attention.
