It's been a long ride. It's amazing how after all that time, the original is still so easily recognizable. So much so it's all anyone that's not a fan understands about pokemon. It's not a fair image, to say the least. I say this, though, as someone who's had their own rocky relationship with the anime. One that's on another break right now. As a fanfic writer, I would not be where I am without it, though. Most will deny it, but we really do owe a lot to this show for even giving us the idea that substance can exist in this world. Of course, most of them are full of hot air anyway since 90% of fanfics copy the anime in some way, if only in structure. My art as well is driven by my storytelling capabilities. I owe a lot to that moment 18 summers ago when I discovered a show that I did not even believe I would like at the time. A franchise I would not believe I would like at the time.

Here's to you, and more fans who were like me. This fandom needs more of them...badly.
