Hyrdrxes, also known as the Sage of the Great Swamp, is a wyvern living somewhere in the mountains of the Great Swamp. His "breath" is able to call the storm, hence his designation as a sage under the Elysian magic traditions.
Preferring to keep himself to himself, Hyrdrxes is very shy and scholarly by dragon standards, strongly rejecting the toro culture of his homeland, which he perceives as vain and chauvinistic. Even so, he will fight when necessary to protect the swamp and the ecosystem from threats or imbalances, if diplomacy is not feasible.
Hyrdrxes is very well-endowed for his overall size class and is normally very modest. When hosting company in his nest, he will usually remain seated or prone with his entire lower body obscured.
The local Lizaran and Minotar attribute the thriving ecosystem of the Great Swamp to his genitals, and perform audacious feats varying from bathing in the same rivers as him to handling him directly (usually while he sleeps) in attempts to achieve fertility (by various definitions thereof.) As this region of his person is a significant weak point, Hyrdrxes avoids close combat and prefers to fight from afar or indirectly. The Lizaran consider him an important minor deity and help to protect him from threats that might corner him within his nest.
