For a recent art trade my friend Shalmendo ( https://www.furaffinity.net/user/shalmendo ) wrote me a Star Wars fan fiction story involving our respective fan characters, which is located here: ( https://www.furaffinity.net/view/22467607/ ). As I've mentioned elsewhere I'm really happy with the story, Shalmendo did an awesome job with it. And it, along with our related geeking out on Star Wars stuff, has inspired me to do some fan art. This picture is effectively taken from the opening scene of the story.
After the fall of the Galactic Empire, my character Iri Keltesh has resigned from his service in the no-longer-needed Rebel Alliance and struck out on his own to be a freelance scout and information dealer. Here, he's just landed on the familiar world of Hoth in his modified Y-wing starfighter and his companionable droid R3-422KT (or 'Katie') to conduct a scouting and salvage mission for the New Republic. The sky is cold but clear, and Iri expects a quiet and easy mission...
Yeah absolutely. :) For the official films and shows and whatnot, I can appreciate that they need to choose a single storyline to follow, and that's fine. But that shouldn't devalue all the wonderful stories that are already out there, whatever alternate reality branch it happens to be a part of. I'm mostly just annoyed that the 2D mini series which perfectly outlined/explained the events of the clone wars with VERY FEW continuity errors and segued perfectly into episode III, was deemed "non-canon" as opposed to the 3D television series which sort of made it up as it went along, was littered with continuity errors and did not flow perfectly into the movie which it was supposed to proceed Dx
rant over...... STAR WARS IS AWESOME! no matter WHICH stories or tales you choose to accept as real, because after all; its a fantasy!

Yeah, the terminology makes it seem slightly less of a throwaway somehow. :) And that's a neat way to interpret it. But yeah however ya like to approach it, Star Wars is a great universe full of great stories! ^^ And as you say, it's there to be enjoyed and doesn't make sense to get too wound up about what's 'official' or whatnot.
