After many months of going without, my flagship female character finally has her own model sheet! I've made some enhancements from previous character sheets, replacing my handwritten notes with more legible digital text and including a color bar to clarify which hues were used for her fur, mask, and shirt. The load out data has been shrunken down and moved into the corner, because with Sunny already wearing most of those clothes, it just seemed redundant.

The model sheet covers most aspects of the character's origin and personality, but here's a little extra information that wouldn't fit on the page. Sunny started out over ten years ago as a playmate for Byron, when I'd role play as him late at night. The two would hang out on the limb of a massive tree and have silly conversations about life. I had a name picked out for her, something which I thought was incredibly clever and vowed never to forget. Sadly, I did forget it, so I just went with a nickname that reflected her cheerful personality: Sunny.

Sunny nearly evolved into Charm, the female half of the raccoon duo Curse and Charm. Curse was the hapless, accident-prone brother, while Charm was the charismatic and fortune-favored sister. I drew the two characters a few times, then left them behind to design a raccoon who was more faithful to the one I remembered from my late night role-playing sessions. Sunny was given a family, including Rings, a needy little brother based on a nameless raccoon kit I'd role-play way back when I was a teenager, and Majesty, their empowered but loving mother. You've probably noticed that strong single mothers and two child households are recurring themes in my work. The muse was my own life experience.

Sunny is essentially a cartoon character with a lot of sci-fi handwaving to justify her existence. However, I've made an effort to develop her as much as possible, to make her more tangible and lifelike. Like Byron, she has a lot of positive qualities, but some shortcomings as well. Her emotional equilibrium is easily upset, she has an irrational fear of robots, and she seeks validation from the males in her life, especially those old enough to be father figures. Sadly, being starved of that love as a child draws clouds over her sunny outlook as an adult.
