:V I just decided that this species of dragons lays soft "eggs". More like a membrane than a shell. So there is no need for a belly button, but they do "hatch" very soon after they're out of their mom's belly, so they do breastfeed.

Well, I think hard egg shells were something the birds came up with, so that sounds very resonable. Do the fathers breast feed as well, then? (If they even have that gender arrangement, of course).

That's probably true, since the eggs are so large and born so late. Was thinking of creatures like sea horses where the male cares for the young right from fertilization.
